adkmom Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell how long your child has had Lyme? My DS4 diagnosed Pandas, just found out positive for Lyme. (i dont' have Igenex results in front of me yet) The Dr. office didn't give specifics. (about bands and such) He'll be on Omnicef and Zithro. Is that typical treatment? Many thanks. didn't think I'd be in so many forums!!! But glad we're all here for eachother! adkmom
Suzan Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Hello! I am sorry you find yourself here but glad you made it. Things will start to get better soon! My girls (in retrospect) were born with lyme and got it from me during child birth. My belief now is that the lyme triggered the pandas. They started showing signs of something not right when they were around 1 year old. Is there any possibility you or their Dad have lyme? Do you have any history of tick bites? My dd9 take zithromax and amoxicilin 3x a week with flagyl as a cyst buster once a month and daily anti-yeast meds. Susan
sf_mom Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Azitrho/Omnicef combo is a great start for Lyme treatment but an LLMD would to eventually want rotate and check for co-infections. Wishing you all the best and I look forward to hearing your updates of progress. Edited January 21, 2011 by SF Mom
adkmom Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks ladies. SFMom - Laure said you were a great resource for her, so I'm sure I'll be picking your brain Dr. B has started him initially on Zithro., 200 mg daily. Stopping Omnicef for the time being. Never heard anything about cyst busters! got a lot to learn. (which I'm sure this forum will help me with) PS Ladies - My doc husband is amazed at the amount of knowledge on these boards. Moms rule ....(well maybe sometimes with Pandas kids. adkmom
