Hi, yes, I would definitely say I write smaller and more slowly during periods where I am having trouble with my handwriting. I don't have shaking hands particularly, they just feel sort of asleep sometimes, which of course makes my handwriting a little sloppy. I know it's worrisome to think he's having to deal with shaky hands, but it's probably a good sign that he has come up with a coping mechanism for it all on his own (pretty strong for 5 :D ). And maybe, since he knows he can have very neat, tiny writing when he needs to, he can channel that into always having excellent penmanship someday.

Thanks Emmalily, for your response about tiny writing. (Tried to send you a pm, but think your inbox is full?) It is helpful to me to hear your experience and positive take on it! Hope you are doing well! Are you currently still having treatment with abx?

Sorry gotta clean my inbox out :D But yes, still on antibiotics...I think the plan is to stay on 'til I'm 21 (Apparently that is Rheumatic Fever protocol? or Scarlet Fever? Sorry, can't remember at this point) and then try going off. So a little less than a year from now.

Hi - I don't know who you are seeing for PANDAS or if you are seeing a neurologist, but shaky hands and small writing (micrographia) are often seen with parkinson's diseas (I am NOT saying your child has parkinson's) ... Parkinson's disease involves dysfunction in the basal ganglia and alteration of dopamine levels. I would thin your child's shaky hands and small handwriting are solid evidence of basal ganglia dysfunction and I would save the handwriting pieces to use as a measure of improvement as you treat your child's PANDAS.

I hop that made sense!

I won't speak for Emily but I have problem with my hands falling asleep too & I think that's from the Lyme, not the P.A.N.D.A.S. The line is definitely blurred though, haha. The tiny handwriting (& I do mean TINY!) is an OCD thing for me though. Feel guilty when I take up more space than I need to.

I'd love to scan some of my handwriting. I'll see if I can do that tonight. Especially if I can also scan the writing from when I have no muscle tone. Although you can hardly call the latter "writing", hah.

Hope you're doing well!
