lmkmip67 Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 We had out third appointment with Dr. B today. While Ian has had some improvement on the antibiotics (he is on two), Dr. B feels he really should have made more of an improvement. So he says we really need to make a decision about IVIG. He is also ordering the more fool proof Lyme test. Though he doesn't think that is it because of how great Ian responded to steroids in the early fall. So I don't know. But we have to do some more blood work and get pre qualified for IVIG. I didn't want to have to do it. But it seems like that may be our only option. I trust Dr. B, and really there is no one closer to us that specializes in this. We have an appointment next week with the guy in Mass. that says he treats it, but doesn't if the titers aren't high, and Ian's aren't. I don't know. I am nervous about it all. We switched do United Healthcare PPO, so it should be covered. But I get nervous it won't be for some reason. And I also wonder how many treatments of IVIG he will need. Dr. B said hopefully 1. But that didn't sound conclusive. I want to help Ian, it breaks my heart to see him struggle so. He actually had a good day so far today. We will see when it is time for bed, lately that has been his issue. Will one IVIG infusion really be enough? I hear so many people talk about ongoing infusions on here. Well, I am off to research IVIG in more depth. Lisa
momofgirls Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 My daughter did great with seroids and later found out she had lyme. I think we had supressed the immune response/reduced inflamation so we saw improvement but lyme was still there along with bartonella. Glad you are ruling out lyme.
