emmalily Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 http://www.starbrightworld.org/default_login.aspx?ReturnURL=%2fhome.aspx This is a social network specifically for seriously and chronically ill kids 13-20 years old. From what I've read, it is very, very safe...They ask for a lot of information but it simply so they can verify that you are who you say you are. I thought some of your kids might be interested in it.

emmalily Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 Thanks for the link! Love your blog too. I have one that I rarely ever get on. :/ EmersonAilidh.Tumblr.Com Are you sure giving them my address & phone number & stuff is safe though? Mm, you'll def have to decide that for yourself, but from what I've read about them they seem quite legit. You never really know, but they do have a privacy policy (at the bottom of the home page) that explains why they are collecting that info, which is to send you further information about their programs. They have a lot of in-person programs apparently, working in hospitals, etc from their parent organization Starlight Children's Foundation.
LNN Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 As emmalily said, this is a personal decision about what info to disclose. But regarding Starlight - they provided a lot of crafts and supplies to Georgetown Hospital for the pediatric ICU when we were there for plasmaphersis. They are a legit organization. But I can't speak to how they do or don't use personal information. You might call or email them or look for an opt-out option.
