Cristo Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Hi, My ds7 just started a course of azithromycin. This time, it was the generic brand, because that is what the pharmacist had available. There is no red dye in the generic brand. He started taking it on Friday evening, and on Monday morning (today) he told me that his urine is frothy. I called the doctor, and am waiting for the secretary to call back. Has this happened to anyone?
Johnsmom Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Could that be yeast? We havent had that experience.
peglem Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Never had the experience, but googled "foamy urine" because I was just so curious. Here's what I found: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/foamy-urine/AN01702
Cristo Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 The pediatrician had ds do a urine test, which came back negative for protein and glucose. Last time that he was on azithromycin for 3 weeks, he had the same symptoms, and had protein in his urine. After doing the first urine test and finding protein, they did a 24 hour test, which is supposed to be the gold standard for protein, and they found nothing. So...for some reason, ds gets foamy urine after being on azithromycin.
