We tried doxy first with no obvious improvement in symptoms. My understanding is that tetracycline is a problem if the teeth are still not erupted but that it is OK once they are in. My son is 13 so he already has all of his permanent teeth.

I took doxy myeslf after some dental work a couple of years ago. I developed a TERRIBLE rash on my face. I thought it was so weird - I googled to check and then went back to my doctor. There is a HUGE instance of doxy causing facial rash. It can take weeks/months to go away after you stop the med. Not saying not to try it, you guys may be fine, but just keep an eye out and if there is a rash developing, talk to the doctor.
