Joan Pandas Mom Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 My son had to have a follow up MRI yesterday for a concussion he had last Oct. Every thing is fine but the neuro said he had a lot of congestion in his nose, mostly in his right nostril. The nosebleeds are from the left nostril. We saw the ENT 3 weeks ago because my son has been having bloody noses daily or every other day for a while. The ENT prescribed Bactroban Ointment for his nose because he saw strep or staph infection. I should have asked him to culture it. I am asking for a culture tomorrow--any other suggestions?
Megs_Mom Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) No suggestions but will be thinking of you tomorrow. How is he doing? Sounds like you are finding some extra clues. Good luck - you are doing such an amazing job & are often in my thoughts. Edited November 24, 2010 by Meg's Mom
kimballot Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 my only suggestion is to consider a fungal sinus infection if your child has been on antibiotics for a long time without antifungals. This (and many other great things) was discussed in this thread over the summer. http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9549&st=0&p=80199&hl=+chronic%20+sinusitis&fromsearch=1entry80199 Best of luck!
Joan Pandas Mom Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 Thanks guys. He was cultured for strep, staph and fungus. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the encouragement too--it really helps. I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
