My PANDAS daughters Western Blot was positive IGg 18 and 23 through Lab Corp. I took her to a Infectious Doctor who said it was probably false positive and nothing to worry about. The only LLMD in our area is two minutes from our house but is not taking new patients. I have tried three different calls to this LLMDs office, even tried not mentioning lyme just that we were looking for a new PC and still no new patients. Where do I turn? We are in South Eastern VA. Do I need to even bother looking for a LLMD with these blot results? Thanks

You could rerun the WB via Igenex to see if there is a broader response to Lyme specific bands.

BUT, with that said here is what Dr. Ann Corson Pediatric Lyme Specialist states in her most recent presentation at the ILADS conference.

A positive Western Blot need only show one species-specific band to demonstrate exposure to BB therefore confirming a clinical diangosis of Lyme Disease.

These species-specific band are: 18, 23-25, 31, 34, 39, 83-93

Your Daughter has two specific bands for Lyme and with clinical presentation of PANDAS/Lyme an LLMD would treat appropriately. There are a couple good LLMD near by that could help and would also test for co-infections.

Dr. Jones article confirms what Wendy said from Dr. Corson...

http://www.personalconsult.com/articles/drjonesapproach.html

There are nine known [Lyme] Borrelia burgdorferi Genus species specific KDA Western Blot antibodies (bands): 18, 23, 31, 34, 37, 39, 83 and 93.

Only one of these Borrelia burgdorferi genus specific bands is needed to confirm that there is serological evidence of exposure to the Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete and can confirm a clinical diagnosis of Lyme Disease.
