Just wondering what experiences anyone has had with Bicillin shots versus other abx? We are not sure whether our ds has Lyme or Pandas and the doctor may prescribe oral abx long term, but may try a Bicillin shot at the initial visit.

Has a Bicillin shot helped anyone with Lyme?

Or is it not as helpful as oral abx. I am new to this and would like to hear some experiences before our doc visit.

Thanks, John L

When I see it rx'd for lyme it seems to be given fairly frequently. (I'm thinking, once a week). Our son had bicillin shots once a month for PANDAS and we saw him get "worse--way worse". We now believe, as does our LLMD, that what was happening was herxing. These shots are painful!! :o :o If you do have them have two nurses simultaneously do the injections (thighs). Ice the area before you have them and move around afterwards to help with pain. Dawn

Approx 30yrs ago, I recieved the bicillan shots once a month for 5yrs, and took abx every day. I had Rhuematic Fever. I had mine on the backside of my hips. It was the only place that I could tollerate it. I believe the meds are frozen (or just feels like it). Oh and mine was just 1 shot 1,500,000mgs (at least thats what I remember them saying it was)
