Should we take a copy of the article to our local school nurses to increase awareness and discussion???
JAG10 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Hi TwinCitiesMom, I think there have been suggested articles floated around for school nurses. You can try searching here or our best friend, Google. There is the whole "a bird in the hand worth two in the bush" argument where you raise awareness but then have no local, in-network docs to refer folks to for help, which gets complicated pretty fast. Saw this was your first post and just wanted to give you a shout out HI Jill

KaraM Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I actually have a copy of an article from a 2003 or 2004 issue of School Nurse news. PM me with your email if you want it. KaraM Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 In their thank you's did anyone mention how sometimes those strep tests can be negative, but a child can still have PANDAS? I will when I send mine. But it might be good to hear from more than one source. I actually have a copy of an article from a 2003 or 2004 issue of School Nurse news. cobbiemommy Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Sent my thank you with a VERY brief history of DS's issues. Hope he keeps talking about this; more voices the better. Cobbie
thereishope Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) I don't recall if I said it in my email, but I think I did mention it in a comment on the article. I will when I send mine. But it might be good to hear from more than one source. I did mention the negative titers. I also mentione that once a child has PANDAS any infection could trigger an exacerbation and I mentioned H1N1 last year. I received a "thank you for your comments" email from Dr. Ablow today, so someone read it - I don't know if it was Dr. Ablow himself. It is good if they hear from more people... maybe they will do another, more in-depth piece.
JAG10 Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Ditto on the generic "thank you" Hopefully someone gives these emails consideration
