sf_mom Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 It must seem like I'm up dating a lot...... BUT with our entire family sick with Lyme/co-infections and appointments every six weeks there is always something new to add about our experience. During my last appointment the Dr. ran thyroid, virus panel, mycoplasma, babesia and the following are my results. - Mycoplasma: Positive - Viruses: Positive for three viruses... EBV, HHV6 and one other but I forget which one. - Thyroid Function: Normal - Babesia: Negative They are not concerned about the current viruses because all my titers are low and I am showing rapid improvement with treatment. They felt if there is still mycoplasma infection present my current antibiotic protocol should address it. Even though my Babesia results are negative they are still concerned its an issues because of my current symptoms and one of my children being positive. They are starting me on Tindomax already for the next six weeks. I understand sometimes they pulse tindomax.... three weeks on, three weeks off. That makes sense when you consider the growth cycle of Lyme. The tindomax should also treat some of the Babesia if its present. Again, they will be watching my response to treatment and symptoms to determine if they will treat for Babesia going forward. -Wendy
Suzan Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Nice! Sounds like you have a good protocol and a great LLMD. Very interesting about the virus infections. I can't wait to get all my test results. She ran a lot of tests. Thanks for keeping us updated. susan
PacificMama Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Hi Wendy, It's a good thing you live so close to your doctor! I'm sure the office is beginning to feel like a second home. Are you saying that you are going to be taking Tindamax every day of the week for six weeks? Also, did you ever get the ILADS presentation on cytokines and herxheimer? If so, could you post a short summary. If not, maybe I'll order it. Good luck with your abx changes! Mary
sf_mom Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) It is scary as they already know me and the kids fairly well at the office. I am going to take Tindamax every day.... I'll let you know dosage once I pick it up today. EDIT 1500 m.g. I did order the DVD/CDs recently and still waiting to receive them. From what I understand/been reading, the cytokines cause inflammation, a cytokine storm is typically what causes severe reactions to flu's, etc and sometimes even death because the body becomes so overwhelmed. I know Dr. H talked about it in his presentation and will update once I listen to CD of that breakout session. -Wendy Edited November 11, 2010 by SF Mom
