deagar
We just found out that my son has cat allergies and of course, we have one. He has always seemed to sound congested, even after his tonsils & adnoids were removed. Since visiting this site, I have been slowly looking into other things that may effect his health & TS. After the allergy testing, they put him on flonase. It has been about a week and you wouldn't believe the drainage that he is experiencing. Either the flonase is opening up his sinus passages and finally allowing everything to drain or else he is experiencing some of the nasty viruses that are going around. Either way, I am looking for a way to help him sleep at night with all this drainage and coughing. The cough is VERY loose. I am aware that decongestants can increase tics but was surprised to read that antihistamines have helped some with tics. Does anyone know what kind of response to tics cough syrups or expectorants may have? He is very picky with taste and large pills so I have limitations there. I tried the antihistamine last night which appeared to help and to the best of my knowledge, didn't have a negative effect on his tics. I am thinking I need to thin out the drainage to help get rid of it and in turn it will help his cough. Any suggestion here??? Deanna
Claire
Bummer, I sure hope you are keeping the cat out of his room and are running a HEPA filter in there 24/7. MSM is a natural supplement that is supposed to reduce congestion/mucus from allergies (ask at your health food store). Also, I think that the one thing that clinical studies in Japan 'proved' Threelac (or the active ingredients in it) was effective for was for allergies. Of course it could be through the reduction of yeast, which is not clinically documented yet. Claire
