Joan Pandas Mom Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 My older son's ASO is 244 it was ordered by Dr. B before my PANDAS son upcoming IVIG. His Pedi is out this week and the on call pedi won't call in script. I tried to explain PANDAS to her nurse again. I should have here call Dr. B. It never ends.
Mary M Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 One more stressor to add to your life. It is so wrong that some docs won't listen long enough to understand that we parents really do understand the proper way to treat our children/families when PANDAS is the predominant feature. Can't the on-call doc call your regular ped for approval? In our dd's practice the partners all defer to our ped but will order what she verifies verbally by phone. Even my dh's internist provided abx when his titers came back elevated prior to IVIg. He's on his second round of abx as his elevated titers persist.
Megs_Mom Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Our Ped put a note on the top of our file, so anyone that opens it, finds her directions. I did not have to ask for this - she assured me (on a bad day) that she would do this, in case she was out of the office on a critical day. This might be something to ask for, for future issues.
Joan Pandas Mom Posted October 5, 2010 Author Report Posted October 5, 2010 I ended up explaining to the nurse again how serious a problem this was. I told her my son has been out of school going on 3 weeks, completely incapacitated by PANDAS with an upcoming IVIG. I told her he was out for 3 months last year and that we can't have anyone sick in the house or the ivig will be useless. The on-call doc did end up calling in abx. I hope this and ivig are the answers over the next few weeks.
