  1. I'm looking at a recent superbill and there is an ICD-9 for unspecified psychosis on it. PANDAS is written at the bottom with no ICD-9 next to it. This is paperwork for submission to insurance for reimbursement. Is this a typical ICD-9 for a kid with PANDAS? Tics are the reason for the doctor visit. Please share your thoughts. Thanks Dave
  2. Can you get this to your OT, and have them share it with the teachers? http://www.nysota.org/node/334 It's a link to the New York OT association report on PANDAS and OT in the school when writing deteriorates. Dave
  3. Who in the So. Cal. area KNOWS PANDAS? If no one, what are my other choices for finding someone who can help with this? I need someone that can write something up for school as well. Thanks Dave
  4. Many of us would appreciate a post such as: Dr. A. (Name/Location/Specialty) Dr. B. etc. Would one of you who knows all of these folks be able to put it all in one post for new users? Thanks Dave
  5. You may want to consider Wart Wonder or Thuja. No burning, blistering, or freezing. You'll want fingertip bandages. Dave
  6. What are the specific names of all of those tests you're talking about? Do you have an example you could email me? Dave
  7. Are you still seeing Dr. Lin??? Dave
  8. 500 mg azithromycin daily for 30 days. This is his 2nd round with a month in-between. Tics resurfaced while no prophylactic dose was being given. Will start nystatin as well.
  9. 500 mg azithromycin daily for 30 days. This is his 2nd round with a month in-between. Tics resurfaced while no maintenance dose was being given. Will start nystatin as well.
  10. Anyone here in So. Cal. that knows PANDAS?
  11. During a 30 day azithromycin course, is your child receiving either a prescription antifungal like Nystatin or an OTC antifungal? Are you giving probiotics as well? Please comment. Thanks Dave
  12. No, he has had EBV, CMP, CBC, HHV6, ASO and AntiDNAse B... what did we miss, and, do we need another blood draw for it?
  13. ASO was 7 Reference Range is <150IU/ml EBV No EBV antibody detected DNASE B Antibody <50 Reference Range <187 U/ml Now here's one I'm not sure what to do with, HHV-6: IgG 2 years ago was 1:320 Reference Range was <1:80 IgG this year is 1:160 Reference Range is <1:10 HOW DO THESE HHV6 TITERS COMPARE, AS THE REFERENCE RANGE IS DIFFERENT? HAS IT INCREASED OR DECREASED? DO WE NEED TO TREAT IT? IgM was <1:40 last time, <1:20 this time ON HHV6. How do the numbers look to you?
  14. My spouse used to have to take time off from work a couple times a year when her tonsils would balloon up. She'd take penicillin for it. She had her tonsils out over a decade ago. -Would these have been strep infections? -Would she still be carrying strep? -What test would parents get to see if they are carriers?
  15. We're still seeing some eye tics, but the head jerks and grimaces have stopped. He will finish his first 30 days of azithromycin next week. We should have blood draw done next week. What should we expect next? What should we do next? Dave
  16. Hello, I'm trying to get in touch with local parents. I'm in Orange County. Thanks Dave
  17. Ozimum, you gave me more information in this paragraph than my doctor did, and more than I've been able to find during the last 2 years of trying to get a sensible answer to this question. Thank you! Dave
  18. Well, I cut some slack to both of them as the lab interpreted "Anti DNAse Ab" on the rx as "Anti Double-Strand DNA antibody". I even cut the doc slack for not catching it on the results. I was just going over the list kimballot sent me with recommended tests. I saw EBV and thought, "Oh, I have a baseline from 2 years ago for that." I went to look at the labs, and, guess what... they missed the EBV on the rx and didn't do it. The doc didn't notice, either. Think it's time to look for a new doc?
  19. Reference range is <1:80... so how high is 1:320? And, what would you want to know next?
  20. And what do we do with the findings?
  21. I'm glad to see all the replies, but I have to chime in as a dad new to this group: Many of you have been on this list a while. All of us newbies don't know all of this stuff. We can learn it, but it'll take time that would be better spent helping our kids. To that end, if any of you have a complete list of potential tests to start with, (and reason for doing each along with it would be very helpful, too), that would help get things going. Is there one saved anywhere on this website? For me, I have a prescription to get a CBC, CMP, ASO and AntiDNAse Ab (which I understand should read AntiDNAse B so that I get a strep test instead of a lupus test). It sounds like this is just the tip of the iceberg. What other tests are mission critical that I can ask my doctor to write a scrip for? What I know is that my son also showed 1:320 for HHV-6. I don't know how high this is, as I haven't been able to learn that from anyone. I'm sure someone out there knows this already, but I'm still hunting for the answer, and although lots of people read the post, no one replies. It's frustrating. Another thing...please don't presume we all know how to use the Messenger and the other stuff. For example, if I haven't replied to your message to me, I may not have found it yet. Thanks for listening Dave
  22. Thanks Kim, that's the video I was looking for. Dave
  23. Ok, my DAN doctor wrote the test name wrong "Anti DNAse Ab" and the lab read it as "DNA AB" and ran the test for lupus, not the test for strep. The lab didn't check with the doctor, and the doctor didn't catch the mistake when reviewing the lab results. Great...so we have no results for Anti DNAse B, when it might have shown up 2 years ago and we could have started treatment, presuming elevated levels. Thanks for the heads up. Dave
