Hello to everyone. It has been quite a while since I have posted. My son is now 18 :/ I may be having that empty nest syndrome after his senior year! Wow, time flys by thats for sure. My son has done pretty well over the past 7 years tics wise. He has only taken acetyl l-carnitine with each bout that he has had since his first one at the age of 8. It has always taken them right away and now as he is faced with a pretty active "head shaking" tic that he has had in the past, I was turning to the acetyl l-carnitine again. My question is in regards to the brand. I have always used the twinlab but I am having a hard time finding that particular brand. I'm not sure if the stores that I have gone to are just out or not, but I have been so hesitant to buy anything else because of how successful the twinlab one worked for him. There is a "now" brand and I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything about this brand as to being good quality or not?
Also, I wanted to put him on the magnesium and have been reading many many posts as to what kind but I am at a loss of where to start. I saw somewhere that it should be taken with calcium. I see that many have their children on a multi-vitamin as well. Is there a particular brand and dosage that someone may be able to recommend for the magnesium and vitamin? He is 145 pounds exactly at this time so I i'm not quite sure on the dosage.
He is getting ready to start back on his vyvanse for the school year. He has been taking an ADD medication now for some time. He has not taken it for the last 3 months since he goes off in the summer, but he has had this tic now for a good month. It is really causing him some headaches. We are moving on from a pediatrician doctor to a regular family doctor and I plan on discussing his tics with her. I am still researching this forum so that I will better be able to discuss different test that he possibly could have done.
Thank you for any help that you may be able to offer.
