  1. Our five year old daughter was diagnosed with PANS/PANDAS in February. She is almost at baseline while taking Augmentin however a few issues are still hanging on. I'm looking for ways to help her with the lingering issues but to also boost her immune system or train it to work better if that is possible. Someone suggested a homeopathic MD so I went to see one and the following was recommended: Vitamin D supplement (already doing) Fish Oil supplement (already doing) Probiotics (already doing but suggested stronger version) Homeopathic Remedy (one that she feels is a good fit for her) Elderberry supplement Has anyone else explored this route? Success? Or not? Any insight appreciated!
  2. Thank you both for your insight! I appreciate it so much. I just started reading the Explosive Child book and the book for my daughter about what to do when her temper flares was really helpful when we sat down together to go over it. Again, extremely grateful for you sharing this info with me. Thank you
  3. My daughter has been on augmentin for several weeks now and within 36 hours of starting it, almost all of her PANS/PANDAS symptoms went away however there still are some lingering...if she was at a 10 at her worst, she is at a 2 now. She was a normal 5 year old kid before temper wise and obviously disagreed with things at times but was always reasonable and apologetic when wrong. Now she is very defiant at times and there is no reasoning at all. She says mean things in the midst of her temper tantrum as I'll call it and I'm just wondering if this was a symptom for anyone else? Is it a normal symptom? Have you seen it resolve itself? I feel like she has a 13 year olds hormones or even a two year olds temper tantrums at this point and it all started with the rest of the symptoms and for some reason is not going away. Any thoughts or experience with this is appreciated. Thanks in advance
  4. Wow this was beyond helpful and I agree...the best explanation of what is happening to our kids. Thank you for taking the time to share this info and I'm glad your son is doing better.
  5. Thank you for your response. I appreciate any insight and help since the path isn't clear for any of this as you know. I'm glad to hear stories like your son that is almost 100% and hope his health continues. Since this is all still so new, I still just keep hoping for someone to say "yes, she is going to be fine" but I realize with this that is impossible. Thank you again!
  6. Hi All - My five year old was recently diagnosed with PANS/PANDAS after a horrifying few weeks of symptoms that appeared overnight in her. We are in PA and saw several doctors to determine treatment recommendations and she is currently on Augmentin which has almost brought her completely back to herself. She has been on it for three weeks and the plan is to continue the Augmentin for three more weeks and then gradually start to taper her off the script to see if any of her symptoms start again or increase. I keep reading that children are on their antibiotics for longer periods of time. Is that the norm? I am terrified to start tapering her off her meds for fear all the symptoms will return. Are there a lot of children out there that simply need one course of antibiotics and they never see PANDAS/PANS return? Or is the norm to push to have them on the meds longer? Help needed for this mom that is new to all of this and looking for guidance. Thank you in advance!
