  1. I'm wondering if anyone else has a child that seems to tic more often than not tic. My 10 year old daughter very often will tic pretty much nonstop all day (tic started 6 months ago). She has a facial tic (includes eye blink and nose and mouth twitch). She sometimes complains her eye hurts from doing it. I'm just so frustrated that there is nothing to help her. The neurologists act like there is nothing they can or will do. They wax and wane by the way, but there are weeks when they are just nonstop. I know medication may not be the answer, but it seems like there would be some medication worth taking. I don't think her tic is environmental as her father had the same thing, and still does although very mild and hardly noticeable. Thanks for listening. JMT
  2. She has had it for 6 months. The fact that her dad had it for three years in highschool (still does it every so often, but rarely), led the dr. to believe it was chronic tic and the fact that she has no other tics. I ordered the "Tics and Tourettes" book. We have started the Klonopin, seems to work a little. The dr. said if the Klonopin did not work, she could take clonodine as well. She started with Tenex, but it made her blood pressure very low, so probably not a candidate for Clonodine. Thanks for info, I'll check out my local health food store.
  3. When we were finally told to have a strep test it was several months after the tics started. So there is no way of knowing for sure. After completing antibiotics, the tics got better for a few days, but they really wax and wane from days to weeks. I think I'm going to try natural remedies one at a time to see if there is improvement. Any recommendation on what to start with? Jennifer
  4. Thanks for all this. No the dr. did no tests. She did check for antibodies, which were high. Daughter was positive for strep, she took antibiotics. I am going back to the dr. to ask for these tests. Even if she did inherit this condition, something could be making it worse. Thanks for your help. I'm new so may post reply incorrectly. I'll learn. Jennifer
  5. My daughter (10 yrs) was diagnosed by a neurologist with chronic tic (her dad had one into college, still has but hardly noticeable). It's a facial tic involving right side of face only (eye and mouth). One neurologist acted like the tic could be suppressed if she wanted to. I find that hard to believe. Another neuro prescribed Klonopin. My question is what other specialties treat tics (allergist?) and how do I find a homeopathic practice (I live in NYC). It's so frustrating because they wax and wane and I don't know why. Thanks
