My 5, now 6 year old son started eye blinking last year. I did take him to his pediatrician and they told me to ignore it & not to mention it to him because that could make it worse. (up until that point my husband & I were constantly like.."why do you keep doing that?" Do your eyes hurt? ", etc. They did go away and then he started a deep breathing type tic, then various hand gestures, etc. He now for the first time is making a quick but very repetetive HUM sound..constantly..along w/ smelling of his hands! I now know not to mention it to him..I Know he is already embarassed by it & he will tell me it's just something he has to do! I so fear that he will be made fun of, I dont want this for him and PRAY he outgrows it..I would welcome ANY advice on how to handle this as a mom. Do little ones GROW out of this & does it normally worsen? He is a fantastic, outgoing, supersmart, social little boy!! Thanks for any advice/info/suggestions!
