  1. Just wanted to add that the 504 can really help with absences also. Our school only allows 8 missed days for a semester. This puts a lot of pressure on a kid and the parents when they are unable to attend. With the 504 plan, the days can automatically be waived. This may also be common knowledge, but wanted to add just in case. Our dd is a senior in high school this year. When we met with her guidance counselor to renew her 504 this year, the guidance counselor told us to be sure to let her know where dd is going to college next year so her 504 plan can be sent to the college she attends. Counselor also added that her husband had an IEP in place for himself when he was in college.
  2. You could look at this website and see what you think. Located in Charlotte. www.neurologywellness.com.
  3. My daughter has taken Acyclovir daily since June 2011. It has helped her greatly.
  4. We bought one of those neck pillows that wrap around your neck to provide a type of "cushion" for my daughter when she was having really bad neck tics. This may help to provide a little relief for your son at this time.
  5. We were told by a Ped. who treats PANDAS kids locally that we should be giving our DD 2,000iu Vitamin D3 daily. We were only giving her 400iu at the time. If the vitamin d is working for your DD, I say keep on doing what works.
  6. WOW -- 10,000!! what were her levels when you first had them checked? do you do other treatments/supplements or do you find the most benefit from vit D? did you see a benefit right away?
  7. My daughter also got traditional metal braces at 13. She did fine until she had to get them tightened. We always saw a worsening of tics within a matter of hours after each appointment but they resolved fairly quickly also. We started doing an abx dosing 1hr. prior to appt. This seemed to help her. Just as each of your children are different, each Pandas case has its own uniqueness also.(As you can see from the posts-- some had trouble with braces, some did not) It's so hard to know what to do. You just want to do what's best for you child/children.
  8. Thank you so much for that post. I laughed so hard at the line regarding your hatred for black and white chinese bears. I know EXACTLY what you mean.
