Mycroplasmic Pnemonia antibodies

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My son started having a motor tic in his head about 3 months ago with no other symptoms. We took him to the neruologist and they did blood work. He had antibodies for strep and mycroplasmic pneumonia. She put him on a course of erythromycin for 3 weeks and then dropped it for the last week. The tics started to subsided at day 3 on the antibiotic and then a marked improvement again at about day 21. We then dropped the dose and within one day the tics were back to where they were around day 3 of the antibiotic. The doctor put him back on the higher dose of the antibiotic for another 10 days. The tics subsided again (not gone but MUCH better). We dropped the antibiotic again and he did well and now again we dropped it even more. The tics are now just cracking of the knuckles and eye brow movement and frankly I would notice as they happen about once every 30 minutes or so.

All the above said, has anyone been through this and how long will he need the antibiotic and if we take him off will the tics come back?

Thanks!
