Dr. Doris Rapp has dedicated herself to alerting the public on the dangers of toxic chemicals. Her previous books have also done so, and this new offering contains even more alarming facts on everyday health risks. Advice is given on how to avoid exposure, how to protect yourself and your family, how to address needed dietary changes, and how to seek treatment.
Hundreds of references are provided to help locate health care practitioners, organizations, and relevant websites. The primary emphasis is environmental medicine, yet in this text, Dr. Rapp has ventured into the area of energy medicine, pointing out that research has yet to be done. The fact that it is recommended as a treatment option (when other efforts fail) is sure to bother some of her more scientifically oriented peers. She explains that energy medicine was included in an attempt to bring attention to this field and encourage more research, noting that there is a great deal to be learned about the human potential for healing.
She calls for major social changes, emphasizing: “It is estimated that one in six children now suffer from one or more developmental, learning or behavioral disabilities, including mental retardation, ADHD and autism.” Rapp proposes holistic centers that bring the best of conventional and alternative medicine together, and safe villages for those who have become environmentally ill—a growing medical concern. Her goals are noteworthy and truly needed, and we hope that with her determination and this new text, she will find the funding to support them.
