Sensory Processing Disorder in Kids: An ADHD Look-Alike
Expert webinar hosted by Carol Kranowitz, M.A., on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 1 PM Eastern Time.
As a teacher for 25 years, Carol Kranowitz, M.A., observed many young children with Sensory Processing Disorder. To help these “out-of-sync” preschoolers become more competent in their work and play, she studied sensory processing theory, learned about some differences between SPD and ADHD, and steered the students into appropriate early intervention. In her writings and workshops in the United States and abroad, she explains to parents, educators, and other early childhood professionals how sensory challenges play out – and provides fun and functional sensory strategies for home and school. Her two most popular books, The Out-of-Sync Childand The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun, together, have sold 1 million copies. Carol is currently writing The Out-of-Sync Child Grows Up (Perigee Books, 2016). For more information, visit her website at www.out-of-sync-child.com.

Phospholipase A2 – New Information on the Possible Root Cause and Treatment of Many Inflammatory Disorders
William Shaw, PhD
Phospholipase A2 (PLA2), an enzyme found in snake and bee venom, as well as in human tissue, has been found to be elevated in a variety of inflammation-related disorders. It is considered a good marker for increased risk of developing or worsening inflammatory conditions including multiple sclerosis, autism, allergies, cardiovascular disease (including atherosclerosis), Crohn’s disease, neurodegenerative diseases, bipolar depression, long term depression, schizophrenia, sepsis, and certain cancers, with increased susceptibility to metastases. This presentation will review the new information available about PLA2, including an ongoing pilot study with MS patients, methods for PLA2 testing, and treatments that reduce PLA2 levels and inflammation.
William Shaw, Ph.D. is board certified in clinical chemistry and toxicology. He has supervised large endocrinology, nutritional biochemistry, toxicology, and immunology departments in positions at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Children’s Mercy Hospital, and Smith Kline Laboratories. As the Director of The Great Plains Laboratory, he specializes in providing diagnostic tools for diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders, neurological diseases, chronic health issues, and immune diseases including autism, ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue, depression, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, tic disorders, Tourette syndrome, and other serious conditions.
