It is the bacteria that causes "walking pneumonia". My son's main symptom was a cough. However, when the infection becomes chronic, it can cause all sorts of other problems. It is suspected in many cases of chronic fatigue and has been cited as the cause of motor tics in children. bigmighty Posted July 9, 2017 Report Share Posted July 9, 2017 My son got mycoplasmic pneumonia after having his tonsils removed. Augmentin didn't help, so he was switched to bactrim.
