RNmom
I have heard that Dr. B., Dr. K., and Dr. L. take slightly different approaches to the dose level of IVIG. Can anyone confirm for me whether or not this is true? If it is, does anyone know the rational for the differences? Thanks!
Priscilla
That surely seems to be the case. I have read (maybe here) that it is believed that lower doses can actually cause an inflammatory response. We are doing the highest dose I have seen (2G/kg x 4 total treatments) with Dr L. We have completed the 1st dose. Didn't do 2 days in a row. Just 1 infusion over 8 hours for the first dose. My dd handled it pretty well. Did have headache and vomit x 2 about 12 hours post infusion. Then headache controlled with motrin next 2 days. I hydrated her very well before and after treatment.
norcalmom
That answers my question from other post pricilla- thanks. We used dr k. He claims 1.5 better dose, and that that dose works better than 2, but does not know why. I asked him about that specifically. This is the first time I've heard that some doctors are reccomemding multiple high doses right off the bat. I wonder if this is because of something unusual about your childs immune work up?
