Tics increased after 10 mos. of almost nothing?!

As you know that my son has very minimal tics for the last 10 mos, and w/o vocal. Started 2 weeks ago, he has increased facial tics, added a new smelling tic and returned vocal while eating and some slight vocal while watching TV or computer.

The only thing different is that we have switched allergy desensitization from NAET to Bioset this summer to speed up the process and i also feel that Bioset seems more thorough and accurate in testing. After treating various environmental allergies via NAET last summer, my son was still having a mild vocal. It was then we got him Bioset tested, and discovered his environmental allergies were not cleared up. So we went back to our NAET dr. and have her treated the actual tree samples i collected around the house & school, and 2 days later the vocal was gone.

Also, the day my son added a new smelling tic and returned vocal, he had 2 fish oil gels that morning. So i thought it was the fish oil, but the bioset tested the fish oil not sensitive. I am tempted to have him NAET treated for the fish oil.

So the Bioset practitioner went back to see if all trees and ragweed treated from the previous week cleared, and douglas fir came back still sensitive. So douglas fir was treated again. Here we are 5 days later and the vocal & facial tics remained but slightly better.

Also, since my son started NAET 2 years ago, his asthma has been gone. About 2 weeks ago, he started coughing and has not gotton better, so i took him to see his Chinese dr this last weekend, and he said he has a slight asthma cough.

Since NAET and Bioset are energetic medicine similiar to homeopathy. Is it possible that my son is going thru a healing crisis which brings back his old symptoms?! Or maybe Bioset may not be the right treatment for him and that we should go back to NAET?! If my son is waxing, the last 2 weeks has been the longest waxing period since maybe over a year ago! Within the last year, most waxing only lasted anywhere from a couple of hours to most 3 days and the symptoms are mild.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thx!

Pat,

You mentioned a cough. Could a virus have triggered his immune system into overdrive? How has he responded to sickness over the last 10 months? Was he recently sick before this started again? It seems many of our kids tic more when their immunse systems are activated.

Tammi,

I thought about his immune system too. In the past 2 years, his tics has not change or increase while he is sick. That's why i am puzzle! However, i do plan to have his Bioset practitioner to look into this as well. At this point, i am alittle afraid to treat via Bioset.

Patty when I found your posts i was shocked at how our sons are identical.. on june 10 a week after the pediatric allergy specialist gave us flovent and nasonex (like flonase) my son developed tics, i was terrified, i like you stopped the medication immediately, he had taken flovent before, he was a preemie and has environmental allergies which we feels brings on the asthma, it is now aug 5th and after a new vitamin regiment from the naturopath, magnesium , stuff for his allergies, and a homeopathic nasal spray hunter is basically tic free, we also do fish oil twice a day, to help him as he did have a stroke at birth, but we feel this has helped immensely, i do believe these steroids espicailly the nasonex brought the tics on, the doctors of course deny that this could have brought this on, but like you I am a firm believer in naturopathic remedies, we also see a homeopathic doctor also, he still throat clears a little but only after we give him the flovent, like tonight he was rolling in the grass and whammo aslthma attach, can you tell me more about these tests for outdoor allergies, we had a scratch test and birch and cats are huge, we had a blood allergy test doen to test foods, and they were all very minor, none in the significant, because we thought dairy and wheat etc,, we bought a book on line called how to stop tics naturally sounds like you bought that one too. lol..i have a magnesium powder in a capsule that i open, and mix with warm water than use juice.. i will check back, i would like to chat, my son is 7 how old is yours.. it is nice to meet someone that is like me, i know i was not crazy to think the nasonex was the culprit,, my husbands friend has severe allergies and he says he only uses nasonex if he absolutely has too as it makes his skin crawl.. take care ..

Patty,

Do you think it could be that he is getting older and the waxing may start to increase as his age increases. Have you been keeping a chart of his growth, I have seen some fast growth in my son, during waxing times too.

I always go back to how my son was when he was 8 & 9, before that time he did not tic at all. when he was 8 & 9 his tics were so mild and would go away for months too.

I don't know anything about bioset, but I understand your concern.

God Bless,

CP

Hi Patty,

sorry to learn you are experiencing a setback. But you know, maybe things have just been so well for a while that what you are seeing is really kind of mild, but just seems worse because your are not used to it? Like we are in a good phase right now after not being so during March thru June, however my son does have a little sideways facial twitch, but compared to what he was doing before, it seems a mild one, however, you might think it was not, since you have been in waning phase, know what I mean?

Just a little confused, are you going back and forth between NAET and bioset, or just doing bioset now? Any idea that the Bioset is upsetting the apple cart? Remember, you have always said the treatments are as good as the practitioner, so any chance this one is not as good as the one who was doing the NAET?

Also, are you still not relying on any supplements? Could you add something, like magnesium, B6, etc? Since things were going so well before, could you have relaxed a little too much on something like artificials or sweets?

Faith,

You are right, because my son is almost tic-free, any mild increase seems obvious to me. It is still very mild at this point. The thing that bothers me most is the vocal because i thought tree pollen is his trigger! Now, I am not so sure.

We have not slack on our diet. So i can rule that out.

I am not flip flopping between NAET & Bioset. I came across it last fall because i consulted a homeopath that also does bioset. At that time, my son's environmental allergies were treated via NAET but did not have improvements, so i used the bioset testing to check against what was missed. As a result, my son did not cleared tree pollens, but muscle tested negative via NAET. So we went back to our NAET dr. and treated the actual trees around our house & school, and the vocal was gone 2 days later. And has been gone until my son treated various trees via Bioset 2 weeks ago, and the same vocal returned 2 days later.

Now, i am suspecting the vocal maybe also linked to food sensitivities, because meal time is his main trigger. And it seems to be slightly more when eating wheat/gluten/dairy. Also, my son is having an asthmatic cough. His asthma was gone after he was treated for various foods via NAET 2 yrs ago. So i am thinking, to elminiate the vocal, he needs to clear food then tree pollens?! We have an appt with our Bioset practitioner next week, so more will be revealed. In the meantime, i am looking for clues.

I thought long & hard and spoke to the Bioset practitioner 2x before switching from NAET. I was interested in her because she used to do NAET and switched to Bioset because she feels that Bioset is more efficient & accurate. And i was looking to fine tune our protocol. She seems to fit what i was looking for.

Right now, he is on 44 mg of mag 3/4X a week and Unda #s from his ND 5X/week.

Pat,

any possibility of doing the NAET for the tree pollen again? The way you describe, could it be possible the Bioset treatment for the other trees sort of "undid" or interfered in some way to that first treatment? Sounds wacky, I know, but its a thought.

The other thing is, I'm guessing that sensitivities to foods can change over time, or new ones can develop? So, I guess that's what you'll have to find out and see. Let us know how you make out.

Faith,

You & I are thinking along the same line. I kinda of thought maybe it undone or shifted something too. However, like you said and i agree that our bodies are always changing, so i am thinking maybe my son needs a tune up every now and then to keep his allergies at bay.

I will post more when i get to the bottom of this.

Hi,

Would you mind sharing which homeopathic nasal spray you use? My son is on Flonase, and I really don't like him taking it. I've tried several natural remedies at this point but he's still very congested at night.

Thanks for your help.
