Selenium

Recommended Posts

I have been advised by a doctor to give my son, who presented with thyroid irregularity, 200mcg selenium to help with iodine absorption.  I also gave it to DD with Pans ONCE.

She has reacted to it with sweating, insomnia and difficulty speaking for 2 days.  Although it is over, and I think she is better than before, I would like to get input here.

Selenium is known to  be a mild mercury chelator.  While this is a good thing, I think her reaction was to circulating mercury, which hopefully got out by now.  Question is:  Should we continue giving this, if the immediate results are no good, for the long term good?  Has anybody had any experience with this particular supplement and these reactions?
