Hi, my son also started off small.  NOW he has grown into changing tics--one week one thing, the next week another.  It is a terrible cycle.  I have been researching a lot.  They say that the tics grow worse at around age 11 or 12.  1 in 600 children get a form of a movement or tic disorder.  Food coloring, caffeine, stress, anxiety and excitement make them worse.  ALSO zoloft has been linked to an increase in the disorder so if your child is put on meds check the fine print.  =(    Hoping your son improves.

Hi, sorry I am just getting to this.  My son is now 12,  My son got to the point about the time I wrote that (the 27th) that he was having constant abdominal tics.  I counted how many seconds past in between and it was not even 2 seconds of relief.  This may sound crazy but I was praying over him .... like down on my knees, please God help me understand this and in my head I heard--Its the sertraline.   I began to cry.  When my son finally dozed off to sleep I ran to the computer and researched if there were any cases of Zoloft or Sertraline leading to tics.   I FOUND SEVERAL ARTICLES on,  The next day I began to taper off his zoloft.  I cut it by 25 mg.  for two weeks then went down to 50 about three days ago.   For the past two days he has not had a tic.  I am praying that this was the solution.   IS your child on an ssri?  Apparently they do cause tic disorders!  I don't want to get my hopes up but still, to see him without any issue for two days is such a relief.  How is your son doing?
