pr40
my wife had strep B as well but birth went so fast that she did not have time for ABX. There were no infections for our ds.
Missmom
I don't know what infection I had but after 20 hours of labor I started running high fever with vomiting and shaking uncontrollably. They took me in for c-section and took my son in the neonatal ICU for observation after he was born. I don't know if they had to treat him at all with abx. I then went on iv abx. I did not nurse him with all the antibiotics in my system so he was formula fed. He had a bad case of strep when he was 13 months old and it lasted for a month, I believe that was when this truly started for him.
qannie47
come to think of it, when I was trying to get pregnant, I was Strep B positive. I always wondered if I had been completely cleared because after birth, I had it 2 more times....hmmm
JoyBop
Some people are carriers for it. I was pis for three of my 4 pregnancies. I have to ask myself if that has anything to do with a lot. Ironically I was also induced for those same 3 deliveries. 1 has severe adhd and the other 2 have pandas and past food allergies. The one where I didn't have steen b and was lot induced has no issues....aside from your average 14 year old issues.
MaryAW
My daughter was immediately placed into NICU after birth, and I do believe she was placed on antibiotics. Have to confirm. Interesting theory you have. Compromised immune system caused by the poor gut, followed by way too many vaccinations; add to that strep. Only thing I have to contradict this is Dr. Agalliu's presentation at the N.E. conference. The lab mice developed OCD after repeated infections of strep. No mention of abx. JoyBop
Good point about the mice....however they were inbred to have certain genes that made them predisposed to auto immune disorder and he didn't elaborate in exactly what that meant. SSS
I had strep B with my first child, my nearly 16 year old son, who is 100% neurotypical, never an issue, thank you God healthy and thriving. 2nd child, my PANS dd, no idea about strep B as she was a planned C-section, full term baby. However, hours after she was born, the hospital, without asking me, gave her a shot for Hepatitis B, a sexually transmitted disease, and in the year 2005, that shot contained mercury. Did that throw off her immune system? Or the subsequent 3-5 CDC required vaccinations at 1 time every 2-3 months as an infant? Or was it congenitally passed Lyme and Bartonella combined with excessive vaccinations containing mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, animal DNA, embryo DNA? Don't know. She had colic out the gate, never crawled, poor, poor child seemed unhappy and struggling. She did have a wicked case of strep at age 3, given amoxicillin, which is weak for strep, maybe it never cleared, never double checked, assumed and trusted the Dr.s. Too hard to play the guessing and blame game. I am glad I am done having children, grateful 2 out of 3 are happy and healthy. Also grateful for my gorgeous PANS dd, of course. Came here to teach me, that's for sure.
Lydiasmum
This post interested me as my daughter (highly suspected PANDAS case) was put on antibiotics immediately after birth due to complications with her delivery and her being very sick. Ironically, I have suffered an auto-immune disorder myself for the past 12 years - chronic hives and joint inflammation flare-ups. These problems began for me after a severe chest infection which took 3 courses of abx to clear up..... coincidence?
