Even 400mg. of Magnesium Citrate doesn't make her poop

Recommended Posts

My kiddo was always constipated as well. I have put her on Sundown Inulin Prebiotic, which is a fiber, and this has resolved most of her constipation so far. I started her on this because it helps boost the immune system (gut health), so the constipation resolution is a bonus.

If it's c-diff, you definitely need to get her treated. This is serious.

also, I take something called: Glutaloemine by Igenex (only available by authorized provider). I usually take 1 scoop daily, but lately my diet has changed (not for the better), so until I clean it up, I'm using 1 scoop twice a day. It's a combination of glutamine and aloe, and really does help me a lot.

That's the thing. Don't know it if's clostridia. Treated once for this and meds. made her too sick. And also the test for clostridia keeps coming back negative then possitive the negative. We are going to try medications again, but I am hesitant because nobody knows for sure why so constipated. She has horrible reactions to medications, at this point I really have to feel comfortable with what I try, ya know?

I don't know if it's okay for children, but I use mira-lax every few days. It's not a stimulant but rather a powerful stool softener. This disease made me develop really terrible bulimia with laxative abuse so I understand the constipation and was told my several doctors that mira lax was safe to use (for adults) even daily. Also, important to take in enough fluids - when I wasn't drinking that was a big contributor to the constipation, but I know a lot of us including myself have terrible bladder problems.

Something to possibly think about...

Sometimes constipation is brought on by Iodine deficiency. Have you had her thyroid checked and is it functioning properly? Iodine helps produce thyroid hormone. If her tongue is swollen and scalloped along side (google for pictures)... Usually means thyroid or pancrease issue.

An easy way to checked for iodine deficiency is to purchase lugol's liquid iodine. Place a 2 x 2 inch square on arm and if patch disappears/absorbs into skin within 24 hours there is most likely a deficiency. Dr. Klinghardt talks about Iodine as one of the most important minerals when dealing with chronic infection.

I know this is an old topic, but I've been off the boards for a bit. I take 1600 mg of mag citrate for very little response miralax does nothing for me. Tis problem is very irritating. Are there any other solutions that haven't been thrown out yet. My other post mentions the breakdown I'm having and I think my constipation is partially tied to emotional shutdown. But the bathroom problem for me is extreme!!!!
