1tiredmama
I am wondering if it would be apppropriate to try IV steroids for my kids. When is it used? Does it cause weight gain and irritibilty if you use it IV as opposed to orally? Where is it administered, and how long does it take? Thank you! LaurenK
For me, it has always been a quick in- quick out. They are incredibly effective for tics. I receive between 1-5 grams depending on the severity of the flare. It calms it within a week. not lasting issues. The lasting problems come with long term use- not the BOOM 1-5 days hits. At least, according to my neurologist.
bulldog24
If your kids have Lyme or suspected Lyme I personally would avoid it like the plague. My son got a tiny dose before each day of ivig and it has been a disaster. My son had 2 previous IVIG no steroids and got to 100% The steroids supress the immune system and allow lyme etc to get stronger. I have lyme and have taken steroids several times with no problems. Once it saved my life, I have been on antibiotics for 5 years. Some people dont do well.
