kimballot
I just came across the PANS wikipedia page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pediatric_acute-onset_neuropsychiatric_syndrome It looks like they are thinking about deleting it... and it looks like there are multiple concerns. Does anyone know who started the page, why it is being marked for deletion, or what we can do to have a good Wikipedia page available for PANS? I have not read the page fully yet... but will do later on. Wondering what the politics are behind this. Thanks

Thanks Here's the "talk" portion of the page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Pediatric_acute-onset_neuropsychiatric_syndrome Buster is trying to "fix" the PANDAS/PANS page. As usual Sandy Georgia (she's some kind of a Kurlan loving Tourettes nazi) is trying to knock it down. Sigh. BTW, you can "rate" the page (bottom of the PANS page). I don't know if it would help if a bunch of people "rated" the PANS page positively?
Ozimum
Oh Boy! You've gotta read the Talk section...Yay Buster for taking this on. What a job! Edited February 28, 2012 by Ozimum
tpotter
Oh Boy! You've gotta read the Talk section...Yay Buster for taking this on. What a job! WHOA...she has absolutely nothing positive to add. She just keeps finding one thing after the other. Quite clear she has no intention of making this work. Good luck Buster
airial95
I question her "objectivity" when she mentions the support groups and basically calls us a bunch of delusional doctor shoppers for antibiotics...
nicklemama
I would NOT have the patience for putting up w/ the likes of this lady. This is just one more reason why I do not use Wikipedia. It is not reliable and now we can see why. If you match the opinions of the editors, then you'll get your Wiki article. Opinions are not science.

I have not read the page fully yet... but will do later on. Wondering what the politics are behind this. Thanks Hmmm...I found this on SandyGeorgia...it's old (2007), but apparently others have had problems with SG: "Several people have noticed lately that the Asperger's page on Wikipedia has been hijacked by people painting a negative view of the syndrome. The worst offender has to be this SandyGeorgia editor who even went as far as adding a picture of a bottle of risperidone to the page, a clear product placement, and claimed it was standard treatment for AS. Somehow, Gillberg's unfounded view that AS is comorbid with antisocial personality disorder is found on the page as well, though haven't looked up just who added it. " http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt43197.html and "SandyGeorgia is actually an idiot of the first magnitude who has driven off a dozen or so volunteers that i know of. She argues with whoever is around, refusing to yield ground despite a startling inability to read or reason. Instead, she threatens to call the wikicops and summons a swarm of wikipals. She accuses others of being "off-wiki canvassed" while her canvassing is just "asking another editor to take a look at something." She clocks about 18 hours a day on Wikipedia, which in and of itself shows impressive dedication, but does not speak well for her possession of any competence which the real word - which does not put up with this sort of bullshit - has put to use." http://wikipediareview.com/lofiversion/index.php?t17472.html and "I have been put through ###### for the past year by SandyGeorgia, without regard for facts, fairness or policy, mostly because she is such a prolific and unscrupulous bully that most Admins are scared to tangle with her, I HAVE to say something, if only for the sake of anyone else who is being targetted. It is frightening that one editor (not Admin) can have so much power to persistently abuse, and she has as much power over content as she does over editors. She has a stranglehold on content in several areas of articles that simply because of her maneouvering (largely through dominating and controlling featured article reviews), nobody can get past any more. So nothing goes into her articles without her approval of the content, and of the editor, which is entirely dependent on whether you play along with her or not." http://wikipediareview.com/lofiversion/index.php?t14545.html and "They are afraid of SandyGeorgia, and after more than a year I do not blame them. She spends anything up to 100 hours a week, just editing Wikipedia (before you even allow for private emails) Most of it in featured article reviews and article talk pages. She, and a small clique, have a total stranglehold on FAR. Other bullying editors jumped on the bandwagon from time to time, as a result you can probably find links to some of the original WP:ANI slander of me on the "User Watchlist" of User:Psychonaut. Also, as a result of SandyGeorgia's efforts I had no option but to swallow having to edit with the woman who has staked me ruthlessly since 1999, any time she turned up, because if I said a word SandyGeorgia would have got me banned for it. Nobody dares stand up to her over anything...she has become a law unto herself, as well as something of a personal Mafia. Now I am banned just for following policy and trying to prevent a well known disruptive editor from destroying a medical article, and the honest ONLY reason for that ban is because SandyGeorgia wants it. What worries me, is how many other editors are being hounded by SandyGeorgia in this way...and beyond that, how many SandyGeorgias there actually are running their own private, and highly abusive "mafias" through Wikipedia?" http://wikipediareview.com/lofiversion/index.php?t14545.html Edited February 28, 2012 by EAMom

browneyesmom
I too, tried briefly to take on the Wikipedia page and soon tangled with Sandy Georgia. Thank goodness for Buster, for working on this so diligently!! I had to pull back from it as dd12 is still struggling with the immune deficiency. I'm going to look to see if I can figure out how to rate the page!
browneyesmom
You know though... I wonder if we might be better off having it deleted, if Sandy Georgia is going to continue to control it. There are far better links out there now, where people can gather information and Wikipedia is NOT known for being a reliable source... as illustrated by this issue.
