Well, the story made it to CNN:

http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/18/video-dr-gupta-explains-mystery-illness

Unfortunately A.C. and Dr. Gupta merely repeated the ridiculous notion of mass hysteria and offered no valuable contribution.

I am anxious to hear what Dr. Drew has to say about this tonight on MSNBC. Hopefully, he will be more open minded!

"The National Institutes of Health is stepping in to rule out other possible causes. The girls will have a MRI and get checked for things like Lyme Disease Bacteria. A pediatric neurologist is also coming to town to rule out a disease called Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections."

"In the next few days environmental activist, Erin Brockovich, is sending a team to test ground samples at the school." :-/

■William Byrd's Alisha Royal should contend in Region III if she can shake the mystery ailment that plagued her throughout last fall and winter. Royal, who was fourth in the regional in 2007, has been hampered by a condition that has caused her to pass out before races. While being cleared by a cardiologist and neurologist, Royal is still seeking a diagnosis.

It's hard to know what to even say. I have been watching Lori's videos and her bravery/attitude is not even something I can comprehend. Her story is touched on, on the forum and her video link is posted on the 3rd page, the last post I believe.

I wish the "personal discussions," weren't cut off when the vaccine questions got rolling. You have to register to read the redirect and I'm out of time, but knew others would be interested in some of the info here

edited to include a couple more links to the Virgina story. Might make it a little easier to understand some discussion on the "flu" forum

Incredible finds Kim -- Thank you -- Lori's tics (verbal and physical) are so much like my youngest daughter's -- really weird to watch her video chronicle of her sudden onset "tourettes" in Leroy. IVIG and antibiotics asap would be my conclusion.

The videos are so helpful aren't they. For the heartbreak of knowing what other children and young adults are going through, I think it's still invaluable for parents that are trying to sort out where their children may fit.. in the whole scheme of things.

Did you notice that Lori said that her face broke out in hives and she scratched all over (I think scratched was the word she used) in one of the videos? Alicia says that she has had hair loss and both girls have joint pain?

T,Mom,

I meant to say

For the heartbreak of knowing what other children and young adults are going through, not to mention your own child

IVIG and antibiotics asap would be my conclusion

That may very well be all that some will require and some may need radical nutritional support and detoxification. All we can do is keep sharing information and praying. :)

edit

boy, that smiley really doesn't represent my mood!

Another news clip

(sorry if this is already posted), in this one the NIH team leader Dr. H. speaks.A bit disheartening as the ref. is to the conversion disorder STUDY.

At the end of this news clip Dr Mechtler (who diagnosed conversion) speaks re: his concern, seems to be in reference to Dr T, but the sound cuts off right when Mechtler is sharing the concerns.

Below is part of an article from yesterday. This is disgraceful. These poor children and their families are suffering, while being told it is all in their heads. The school district is placing padlocks on the gates so Brockovich's team can't get to the sports fileds, then they are forbidden to take samples. IF the school is telling the truth, that all soil samples were negative for toxins, then WHY are they forbidding samples from being taken? And why does Dr. Conversion Disorder have concerns with Dr. Trifiletti coming to town?

Jan. 29 update: Famed environmental activist Erin Brockovich met resistance as her team tried to test the area around an upstate New York school for clues to a case involving more than a dozen teens plagued by mysterious Tourette's-like symptoms and seizures.

Bowcock looked at ground water and soil at a nearby park for anything out of the ordinary. "I'm just looking at the environment. I'm trying to see where things drain to. What types of soils they are," Bowcock told NBC News.

However, the school placed locks on all the entrances to the sports field, NBC's Rochester, NY, station reported Saturday. Local police and a school security guard initially refused to allow the Brokovich crew on school grounds until the school superintendent and a district spokesman arrived. Officials agreed to let parents, Bowcock and his team walk the grounds, without media, as long as they didn't take any samples.

Grrr... This thing just reeks in all directions. These poor kids and their families

I hope Brokovich and Bowcock wear some sporty new shoes with deep-grooved treads when they walk the grounds.

In several of the local websites, they state that environmental testing was done via or in conjunction with BOCES.

BOCES is the upstate NY equivalent of vo-tech high school programs. When I was in high school, they offered things like cosmetology, auto mechanics, auto body training etc.

I don't know how BOCES would be even remotely qualified to handle sophisticated environmental testing. It will be interesting to see where all of this goes.........

Despite testing for PANS, Trifiletti said, "I think Dr. McVige and her colleagues at Dent have done an excellent job in attempting to evaluate these patients to the best of their abilities, and their conclusions are reasonable."

"in attempting to evaluate these patients to the best of their abilities"...............
