peglem Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I've been reading IVIG, and keep seeing warnings about not using if you are sensitive or allergic to thimerosol. I can't find anything that specifically states that its an ingredient.
thereishope Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Well, since you posted this, I started looking for info and it's really hard to find! I see exactly what you did about the warning. I saw one site stating that IVIG did not include thimerosol but I cannot find the reason for the warning. Could it possibly be already existing in the donors whom may have gotten vaccinated with a vaccine containing it or it that really far fetched? I don't know much about all of this. Sorry...I tried!!!
MomWithOCDSon Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Would Dr. K. or Dr. B. be able to address that, you think? Worth asking, anyway.
SSS Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Our Dr., a DAN! Dr., said the fluid for IVIG USED to have thirmosol in it- back in the early 90's. He told me of a sad story of a rather famous child, who was dx'd with kawoski's (spelling? sorry) disease, was prescribed IVIG's, and because of all the thirmosol, came into severe autism. NO, it does not contain this any more, and has not for years now.
