JuliaFaith Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 DS is on 3 months of therapy so far, mostly for parasites/worms. Now that he is showing some signs of getting rid of these we are moving onto lyme treatment more aggressively. He is now on Augmentin (875 mg - 2xday) possibly for 3 months. Along with the abx, she wants him to take supernatant (2 caps 1xday). We are continuing with most of the nutrient support (CORE, Vit K2, Vit. A, EFA, Calcium, Selenium) and added on "Lithium - orotate." Have not researched this yet. Took off UNDAS, FloraStor & Beta glucan, and replaced with: Artemesinin Quintesesce Grapefruit Seed Extract She has us mixing these with some current supplements to make an antimicrobial 'cocktail'. We are also doing the 'hair analysis' again and 'blood draw' for CBC, ASO, & Chem panel (to check liver/kidney function). Because my ds is not progressing as quickly as she would like, she highly recommended that he get his tonsils removed. DS has had 3 flares in the last month each one lasting between 1-2 hours, so glad that they have been minimal. If you know what any of the new supplements are for please let me know. Thank you!
KeithandElizabeth Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Hello: Both of my children have been on Artemisinin for Babesia. My son is still on Artemisinin (and has been for the last 8 months) and I believe this is the one supplement that most LLMD's pulse. Our LLMD does 4 days on and then 3 days off, but each LLMD may pulse differently. We have also used Grapefruit Seed Extract and I have read that many LLMD's are beginning to use this to aid in cyst bursting. It has many other anti-bacterial and immune enhancing properties as well. I know that Dr. Klinghardt is a big advocate of tonsil removal, but we chose to wait on this decision because our LLMD did not think it was necessary. This is a hard decision because every doctor seems to have a such a strong opinion about the tonsils. Our nutritionist feels that the tonsils are an important part of the immune system and removing them does not prevent the bacteria from entering the body. We have friends in our town who also have a child with "PITANDS" and they removed their son's tonsils and then their son ended up in the ER several times with strep in his gut. One idea would be to see how your son does with the addition of antibiotics. But, I think highly of and respect Dr. Klinghardt's philosophies so please let me know what else you learn about the necessity of removing the tonsils. Please keep us updated. Fixit Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 regarding tonsils..... it is my understanding...that once the they are"over infected"my words...they become disfunctional...then they are just a harbor for yuck... it is not like they will return to their full, round, lively, functioning state...almost like a deseased liver... in our case ds has had roughly 15 known strep infections and dh is probably in the hundred area..he had his removed in december.. (unfortunately ds8 had strep in november that sent him into his first pandas episode, but has had many ear infections and ent said his look worse than the other 2 i just mentioned) and for the 2 ta's..i had them both on abx for a month prior to surgery and a month after.. i am not trying to push ...just giving you my info..and that i wish i had them out for both dh(grown man bringing/catchign strep 3 times a year) and ds10 years ago... i also wish i had started allergy shots years ago for ds...but that is hind site
JuliaFaith Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 Thank you for your replies. Very greatful! Elizabeth: Thank you for the info. on Arteminisin/Grapefruit seed extract. My dh had used the grapefruit seed for sinus infections at one point. Dr. has us mixing the following into a 'cocktail' 2xday: Artemesinin Quintessence Virescence Neem Grapefruit Seed Extract Raw egg yolk (organic, local) Ds hates drinking it but the amt. of tablets that he was taking has decreased substantially. Thank you as well for the info. on tonsils. I was really against it at first but now not sure. Fixit: Interesting to hear different perspectives on tonsil removal. Our first day at this dr. (one in Klinghardt's office) she told me that any child with PANDAS should get tonsils removed. Now 3 months later (in addition to 1 yr. of very little improvement) and very small amts. of improvement she recommended it again. She said that even though he has never had strep they still could be harboring infections. She also said it usually takes her 6 months to convince parents to go thru with it and tonsils are usually in really bad shape (not sure if a surgeon would say otherwise). All of his tests (except PANDAS) have all come back normal but he just is not improving much and waiting a year seems like enough. When Ds13 heard the dr. mention getting tonsils out, he wanted them out the next day! What a surprise! Throat has been sore and swollen for the last year. We are going to see an ENT next month so will posting. Take care. Julia

Julia when ds 10 was 5 the ped mentioned it...i was hesitant..but all the streps and other i could have saved us...ds also has terrible allergies..so as mucus builds, germs just get stuck and fester...then turns into infection ent said ds10 looked fine...upon removal..they were terrible..no current infection in them as he been on abx for many months prior.. when dh went in..doc was quite direct in that the number of infections he had and theire condition that takeing them out was a no brainer... on the panDAS site there are a few stories of children going into remission once they were removed...for those who flared..obviously there was an infection ligering and alot of them said they cultrued positive once removed... my husbands brother is contiplateing ta...but after seeing rough recovery for adult he has backed off..but like your son..he complains of constant swollen/sore throat.. he aslo has arthisits and psrorsis very bad and he is not 40.... a couple of studies out there about ta improving/curing psorsisis and i wonder about the arthisist...(his bro had impetisgo so many times his mom cant't couunt)
