mom love
I have seen members on here use it 2 times a week and others who feel 3 times a week is more protective. What dose (mg) is best for each dose? If anyone with experience with this could respond I'd appreciate it.
EAMom
My dd is 64 pounds (5th grade) now and we've pretty much stayed at 250mg/day. When she was in 3rd grade we did try to drop her to 125mg/day (this was b-4 we had IVIG) and we did notice a ramp up in symptoms. I do also feel that PANDAS kids don't have a "normal" immune system against strep so that a "regular" non-pandas prophylactic dose of Azith. might not necessarily work in PANDAS kids. Megs_Mom
We used to do 100 mg 4x a week, but have increase to 250, 4x a week. We don't see any breakthrough OCD at that level. She is 67 lbs. We will not decrease again for at least another 6 months. I have no idea if this is really preventative, but she has not caught anything other than a minor cold for well over a year now. It is clearly regulating her immune system, as we saw breakthrough OCD on the lower dose, that would go away as soon as we increased it for 3 days.
