Low IgA

Recommended Posts

I think mildly low may not be huge issue if other subclasses are normal, since there is some crossover when it comes to function. There are subclasses of IgA. How low? If there is a huge deficiency, then this may explain frequent upper respiratory infections, as well as frequent g.i. infections, as the IgA antibodies are the primary antibodies in mucous membranes such as throat, nose, esophagus, and small and large intestine.

My son has a low subclass 1 IgA but his doc doesn't view that an issue. PANDAS doc does think it is reason he gets gut infection.
