  1. This is one of the best articles I have read summing up the medical issues wreaking havoc on our children neurologically. It also goes hand in hand with the articles posted here in regards to missing gut biomes found in Autism, (ASU article) and the good strep bacteria in the throat, (NIH article) in the prevention of strep for PANDAS families. The author also talks about Gluten and Dairy as inflammatory contributors but not necessarily from an allergic response. The article gives me so much hope that we are finding answers. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/17/psychoneuroimmunology-inflammation.aspx?e_cid=20140417Z1_DNL_art_1&utm_source=dnl&utm_medium=email&utm_content=art1&utm_campaign=20140417Z1&et_cid=DM42653&et_rid=490528222
  2. I am relatively new to this group, but I do look up answers a lot in the last few months since there are so many knowledgeable people on here. Question: DMG, Enhansa, Methyl B-12. My son is 3.5 and on DAN treatment for 4 months & doing well. He is on Methyl B-12 injections prescribed by his DAN & DMG. I recently upped his DMG slightly due to parents mention of gains from DMG.... & BAM my son went from labeling things with one word to using 2 or 3 word phrases, & kind of role playing when he plays like his Nuerotypical twin. So then he seemed yeastier, I had to use Lotrimin in his diaper, which I hadn't needed to do in a while. So I added a tiny bit of Enhansa to our regiment to counter balance the yeast. Enhansa is supposed to boost Glutathione while still being an antifungal. OK that works but one day I used a tiny bit too much & he was itchy everywhere, so backed it down to 250mg twice a day. He is 35 pounds. He also take AFP Peptize & Tri-Enza before meals. Does DMG come in an injection, would that keep the progress yet keep the yeast-beast away I would love to find that right combination for my child (that puzzle piece) & what is Deplin? Any help is appreciated
  3. New study abstract (July 3, 2013) is below. Full research here. Discussion article here. Reduced Incidence of Prevotella and Other Fermenters in Intestinal Microflora of Autistic ChildrenHigh proportions of autistic children suffer from gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, implying a link between autism and abnormalities in gut microbial functions. Increasing evidence from recent high-throughput sequencing analyses indicates that disturbances in composition and diversity of gut microbiome are associated with various disease conditions. However, microbiome-level studies on autism are limited and mostly focused on pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, here we aimed to define systemic changes in gut microbiome associated with autism and autism-related GI problems. We recruited 20 neurotypical and 20 autistic children accompanied by a survey of both autistic severity and GI symptoms. By pyrosequencing the V2/V3 regions in bacterial 16S rDNA from fecal DNA samples, we compared gut microbiomes of GI symptom-free neurotypical children with those of autistic children mostly presenting GI symptoms. Unexpectedly, the presence of autistic symptoms, rather than the severity of GI symptoms, was associated with less diverse gut microbiomes. Further, rigorous statistical tests with multiple testing corrections showed significantly lower abundances of the genera Prevotella,Coprococcus, and unclassified Veillonellaceae in autistic samples. These are intriguingly versatile carbohydrate-degrading and/or fermenting bacteria, suggesting a potential influence of unusual diet patterns observed in autistic children. However, multivariate analyses showed that autism-related changes in both overall diversity and individual genus abundances were correlated with the presence of autistic symptoms but not with their diet patterns. Taken together, autism and accompanying GI symptoms were characterized by distinct and less diverse gut microbial compositions with lower levels of Prevotella, Coprococcus, and unclassified Veillonellaceae.
  4. Good afternoon everyone, My dd is 2 1/2 years old and has a hx of autism (classic) and recurrent infections (otitis media with ear tube surgery, sinus, rsv, respitory) and is a carrier of a rare immunodeficency called CGD passed on from her father, she doesn't have the disease but is a carrier. She recently had quantitive immunoglobulin tests and antibody titers which revealed normal IgG 575, IgM 125 and IgA 32. Her total immunoglobulins levels were within normal limits but 3 out of 4 igG subclasses were low and 9 out of 14 pneumococcal antibody titers were low, below 1.0. Her doctor said thst this explains her frequent infections and reccomended a pneumovax 23 vaccine to test an antibody response with repeat labs in 4-6 weeks, which she recieved yesterday. The diagnosis code on the lab order was 279.3 (unspecified immunodeficency) Should i be concerned for her being diagnosed with any immunodefiencies and should she have any reactions or regressions since she had pneumovax yesterday? she had 4 prevnar vaccines per immunization schedule since birth, shouldn't those have created an immune response, i hope she doesn't fail titers with the revax. I am also awaiting results of a sleep deprived EEG with her neurologist for frequent staring spells vs. Petit mal/absence seizures and she was recently started on Clonidine 0.1mg 1/4 tablet before bed for sleep disorder and hyperactivity. Should i be concerned? Any suggestions or similar expierences would be apprciated, i am so concerned given her myraid of issues as of late. thanks
  5. Just got this today! I follow this PHD Paul Patterson after I heard him speak at the PANDAS conference in Irvine. Notice the wording of maternal immune activation. I would love a mouse study on pregnant mice fed GMO since there are pesticide DNA in every cell. I think he is doing some amazing work! http://infectiousbehavior.wordpress.com/tag/gi-symptoms-and-autism/
  6. This is the most IMPORTANT INFO I have learned in the last 7 years! MIT PhD Stephanie Seneff talks about the pathways that works with our genes creating Autism, learning disabilities, Alzheimer's, autoimmune disorders, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and our epidemic of vitamin D deficiency. Only available today. Make time to listen.... For yourself and those you love. Peggy http://gmosummit.org/broadcasts/
