  1. My son also fell apart about 8 weeks after his first IVIg two years ago. It turns out that he also had Mycoplasma Pneumonia and Lyme/Bartonella. I don't know what the incidence of Lyme is in Croatia, but I am sure that Bartonella exists there. Did you see Dr. Kovacevic? If so, he has a website: www.webpediatrics.com Maybe you could contact him that way and get some assistance. Some children need more than one IVIg and some need IVIg and treatment for other illnesses. Augmentin does now work against Mycoplasma Pneumonia or Bartonella. Good luck. Cobbie
  2. First, here is a hug from the show me state (MO). We have been where you are and hope to never be there again. Talk to the Hospital. Some will not even proceed without insurance approval, some will provided you are willing to sign on the dotted line... Second, if you do not have a job currently or are underemployed, take the new job. You have nothing to lose and your boss may be very sympathetic to your situation. Third, have you talked to your doctor about a possible steroid taper? That worked miracles in my son and bought us enough time until we could get IVIG. Fourth, I think insurance companies are part of the "evil empire". They are a necessary evil, but I despise them just the same. On the plus side, if you end up having to pay out of pocket, it greatly reduces your taxable income. This is sick humor, but happened to us three separate years. Lastly, have you tried an insurance advocate? We used one and I highly recommend them. PM me for the name. Know that there are other mom's in your corner. We are here to support you.
  3. We are in KC area (St. Joe), but have no recommendations. We are travelling, but would love to know about a KC doc.
  4. The nasal steroid spray stays within the nasal and sinus cavity if used correctly. I think it is more important to get the sinuses opened up and draining than risk chronic sinusitis. We are having a lot of sinus problems here and always have had them. DS, 13, is on steroid taper and waiting for results of CT scan. He is also getting allergy shots, taking allergy meds, flonase, and antibiotics. Soemtimes the reason for blockage can be functional, such as deviated septum or enlarged turbinates. IMO, no amount of steroids, homeopathic or allopathic meds are going to correct those things. So, you need a good ENT in your corner. I know oral steroids are not great, but he is having the best days both mentally and physically because his sinuses are draining and he can finally breathe. Cobbie
