  1. I am just responding now finally because one of my daughters has had the stomach flu. She does not have tics but she has been very sick. I really hope my son does not get it because whenever he gets sick his tics increase.

Faith, An OAt Test is the Organic Acid Test. It is a Metabolic Organic Acid Testing. It gives guidance to specific Vitamin, mineral and amino Acid needs. Relative to health status, genetic tendencies, aging and oxidative Status. It gives metabolic markers of cellular functioning, energy production, neurotransmitter metabolism, nutrient deficiencies, and intestinal dysbiosis. I got it done because my son was found to have an Egg intolerance. So, I wanted to know if he was deficient in any vitamins. The test costs $269.00. I am glad I got it, however it still is a little confusing on the B vitamins. My son takes TS-Plus control and it has B vitamins in it. From the suggestions of the OAT test, I guess he needs some more B vitamins and I guess he's not Absorbing them properly. I think maybe because it said he has a cloistral, protanzo infection in his intestines. I have to try to get rid of that. I have been reading that Clostridial can cause tics. I have also been reading that it's hard to get rid of. But I have to try. I got the test done by Met. they send it to US BIO TEK LABS. The website is www.vrp.com. In the TS-plus there is 50 mg of Pathothione Acid, from the OAT test it suggested giving my son 250mg. The OAT test suggested also to give my son B1 25mg, Vitamin B12 1000mcg. In the TS-Plus he already gets that much B1 but not that much vitamin B12. As for how my son is doing, his tics are alot milder than before I started all these supplements and the diet changes,( no egg, artificial colorings or favors, preservatives, and NO MSG). He is always a little fiditey, when trying to sit still but nothing like when I gave him the Vitamin B 12 with cherry favor and the wild Oregano. He was so Hyper, Jumping on furniture, really bothering my other kids and screaming alot. I have not seen him like this in along time. He always has some what of a focus problem. That has never really changed and he really hates big crowds he always hast to be next to me or my husband or he hides.Whenever he watches T.V. he always turns his head to one side and wathes like that. MY family is used to him doing that. How is your son doing?

Chemar, Thanks so much for your suggestions!!! I will try the Monolaurin for my son because I think the wild of oregano is to strong for him. I will also try the Milk Thistle for his liver. I think your right the Cherry flavor might be the problem in the vitamin B12.

Caryn, My son had a IGG test and it said he has a intolerance to eggs. Can children have a wheat intolerance even though it did not show up on the IGG because I always have thought my son does not do well when he eats lots of wheat or gluten. Any thoughts?

Thanks again to the helpful suggestions, I have really been very stressed.

  2. On Friday, I received my sons Organic test results. The supplements that they say he is Deficient in is Pantothenic acid, Thiamine, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B 12, Lipoic Acid, 5HTP. They said to give him Thiamine 25mg, B-complex, B-complex+Lipic acid 25mg, 5-HTP, Vitamin B12 1000 mcg, Pantothenic Acid 250 mg. The funny thing is, he is already taking most of these supplements because he takes Bonnie's Ts plus control. I guess he is not absorbing his nutrients properly. I went and bought some vitamin b12 1000 mcg, thay dissolves under his tongue, It said it does not contain artificial flavors or preservatives. However it has a cherry favor to it. Well I gave it to my son and he is jumping off the walls. I don't know if it's the cherry favor or the vitamin b12. Any advice on that? Oh, also my son showed to have high makers for partoaz, clostridal bacterial fungus in his system. So I went to the health food store and bought wild oregano capsules to help with that because the person working there said it helps with bacterial overgrowth in the intestines. So I gave it too my son today, could that possibly make him more hyper, or is it the other vitamin b12 cherry favor? I get so discourage trying new things because I just don't know how my son is going to react. The test also showed that he has a sluggish liver and he is not removing toxin well from his body. It said a possible detoxication would help. It said, also a possible tyrosine deficiency. That confuses me, Does anyone know anything about that? Having said all that, does anyone know of a supplement to help with the bacterial fungus in my son intestines? Has anyone done the Organic acid test before? IF so, did it help with the Tics overall? I really need some advice on what to do? Any thoughts on the supplements I am suppose to give my son and what should I Give him to help his liver detox? I am really stressed about this!! I think maybe these things are really contributing too his tics. Here is a list of supplements he is already taking.

    Gaba 100 mg,1 a day at bedtime

TS plus Control 10 capsules a day

    KIdzyme +proibtioc 2, three times a day

He has been on Culturelle for three weeks now, 1 a day

Extra zinc 10 mg every other day

Magnesium Taurate 200 mg a day because there is 300 mg already in TS Plus Control so a total of 500 mg a day. Any thoughts, I really need some help. Thanks in advance, Char

  3. I was talking to one of my friends the other day and she said, she had heard about a program that helps people with tics. The program is called the Handle Institute. So I decided to check out the website. The website claims that through certain exercises, it can help to alleviate tics. I read testimonials that they had and there are people who claim that it have help to diminish their tics. The one testimonial that caught my eye, was the one about the 11 year old boy. He was having very bad tics, but after doing the exercises for a couple of months his tics are pretty much gone. Has anyone heard about the Handle Institute before? If so, did anyone have good results? I just find it interesting. Any thoughts, would be great to here!! Thanks Char...

  4. Airbucket,

As I read your post, it brought tears to my eyes!!! I too have felt the same feelings as you. I felt there were no doctors who understood my problems that I was having with my son. They basically said to just ignore his tics and maybe he'll grow how of it. I felt also no one really understood how I was feeling. Even in my own family because no else in my family or relatives has had tics before. I just wanted to let you know that your not alone and you can write me anytime. I may not have the answers your looking for but I feel it's nice just too express your feelings to people.Who understand some what of what your going through. I'm thankful too have found this forum because now I don't feel so alone!! I think if all of us members here, just give a ear and support each other,we can find a little peace of mind. When, maybe things aren't so great. I believe that when doctors say there is nothing you can do too help your child, I think there is always hope for a better tomorrow. And as parents we know are children and we have that MOMMY or Daddy instincts that we have to trust over doctors opinions. I hope your son finds some relief soon. As parents, its so hard to see your child struggle. Remember there's always hope for a better tomorrow!!!!

  5. I forgot to add that my son is also complaining of a sore throat again. It has been almost three weeks since he has had strep and been on antibiotics. The antibioctic helped him to focus better and helped a bit with the eye rolling. I'm so confused!!! I still don't know if this could possibly be pandas? If I take him back to the doctor ,will he test positive for strep again? Is it possible?

  6. Hi All,

Has anyone used Liquid zeolites before? I have read it pulls out toxins and metals. It helps the pH levels, and it supposed to pull metals out with no side effects. I have read a lot of times children can get tics from having high levels of metals in there bodies. I have read old posts from a member named Heather who used NDF to pull heavy metals out of her son body. She reported that it helped her son to almost be tic free. If you still post Heather, I would love to here how your son is doing. My son was tested for metals, by doing a urine test. I was shocked to find out he is high in Cadmium. Very surprising because it says kids can be high in Cadmium from cigarette smoke and eating certain shell fish. Well I don't smoke and either does my husband but my son loves shrimp. He eats shrimp all the time. So maybe he is high from eating shrimp, but I just don't know???? Also, I have read Clarie helped her son by adding anitoxiants to her son supplements. It pulled out heavy metals and he is tic free. Claire do you still post, I would love to hear your suggestions and how your son is doing. Anyways, has anyone used Liquid zeolites and did it help with the tics? Did it have any side effects? If it did help the tics, how long did it take? Thanks and any suggestions would be appericated. Also, thanks for replying to my other posts, I really appreciate it!!!!!!!

    Faith,

I think that is a great Idea!!! I would love to hear how others are doing. If they have had any progress or if maybe they just want to add there thoughts about certain things to try. Faith, I would love to hear how things are going in your neck of the woods( sort of speak). Also, if people could add what they have tried and what worked or didn't work would be great. Because you never know, maybe who it might help. Anyways I will update also too.I just don't have alot of time right now.

  9. I have been reading a lot about clay baths and how great it is for detoxing. I have read that, a lot of parents that have children with autism, have used it and had good results. Has anyone tried the children's clay bath for detoxing? Also you can buy a kit that, can test if your high in certain metals. (Through testing your urine.) Has anyone tried this kit before? You can buy the clay baths and urine kit from Evenow, I can't remember the exact name right now?? If you have high metals like mercury in your body, can it make you light sensitive? I was just wondering because my son complains about when he gets his picture taken, that the light really bothers him. Also I think the TV affects him sometimes too. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the clay baths. Thanks...

  10. IGG and IGE are food allergy tests but, I'll explain the differences between the two. IGG is a Food Intolerance Test. Igg reactions take hours to days to develop after the reactive food is eaten. Igg reactions usually occur with foods that are eaten often. Chronic disease strongly associated with IGG food intolerance reactions. IGG reactions can affect any tissue or organ in the body. IGG reactions are difficult to detect without testing. IGE reactions occur within minutes to hours after eating reactive food. Ige reactions are generally to foods seldom eaten. IGE reactions are acute, which means they are usually quick and noticeable. IGE reactions usually affect airways, skin or intestines. IGE reactions are noticeable immediately after reactive food is eaten. I had a IGE allergy test done on my son, it did not say he had an egg sensitivity but the IGG did. I"m glad I got the IGG test done so, Now i know. I got my test done by Allergysmarts. They also test for yeast problems because sometimes that can be an issue, if you have food intolerances. Does anyone know if going off the foods your intolerant to, would you maybe go through a detox period. I mean would your symptoms get worse? If so, how long? Anyways, I hope this explains the two tests. Any feed back on the detox period would be helpful. Thanks..

  11. BreMom,

Hi, I know how your feeling. Trying to figure things out can be very frustrating. We'll your waiting to see the doctor, you might want to try to add some supplements to help your daughter. I have found with my son that the supplements have helped some. I have read on here that supplements have also helped others on this forum. You might want to try, Magnesium taurate, or Magnesium Kids calm. It seems to help with Tics. Just something to consider. Hope this helps ,Good Luck!!

  12. My Son has an egg sensitivity. Does anyone know if someone who has an egg allergy, if they should stay away from L-cysteine because it contains sulfur? I'm confused.. Should I let my son have this? L-cysteine Hydrochloride is in my bread flour and I want to make home aide buns??

  13. EAMOM,

Thanks for responding. My son has had swollen glands most of the time since about three and a half. Every since then, the eye and neck tics have been there. He is a sweet boy but if he gets into big crowds he has to be right by my side or my husbands side. If he can't,then he hides. I have always thought that he was shy but now I'm not so sure. He can't focus on things very long and he gets very annoyed if I try to get him too. He has been on antibiotic for almost 4 days now. I have seen something I am so amazed at. He has had major eye rolling for a long time and to my amazement his eye rolling has got better, I would say about 65% better. He can focus on me better, when I am talking to him. I don't know if it's just gotten better or if it's the antibiotics. IT's so hard to tell? Also I just found out he has a high sensitivity to eggs. So I'm going to start him on a no egg diet. Does anyone who has children with Pandas also have food sensitivities? I feel so bad because he has had the flu shot the last three years. I'm feeling very confused!!! Could this still be Pandas? Any feed back would be great. THANKS....

  14. Nan,

It's so great to read your success that you have been having with your daughter. Reading posts like yours, gives me hope, thank- you for posting!! I have recently found out that my son has an egg sensitivity through an IGG allergy test. I read that you have gone wheat and egg free. I was just wondering if you knew how long it takes to see an improvement with tics when avoiding eggs? Has it been hard to go egg free? Is there anything that you have found that eggs are hidden in, when it does not say it on the ingredients,( on food labels?) If your daughter has eggs does the tics come back? Sorry for so many questions but, I'M just starting to go egg free. I feel so bad because I have been feeding him eggs all the time and he has gotten the flu shot, the last three years. But I didn't know he was sensitive to eggs, however I still feel bad. If you have any suggestions, It would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks....

  15. Hi All,

Today I finally got my sons IGG Allergy Test back. It says that he has a high sensitivity to Eggs. I am glad I got the test done because I would of never of guess that one. I have done the wheat and dairy free diet before but never the no egg diet. I have a few questions, has anyone been on the no egg diet and does it help to decrease tics?I really hope if I put my son on the no egg diet it will help with the Tics. Is there anything I can put in recipes to replace eggs, especially when I'm baking? Eggs are in so many things, it's going to be challenging at first. Is there any books that I can read to help me? In foods that you can buy at the store and you read the ingredients, are eggs hidden under other names?Just asking because sometimes, some ingredients can be hidden under other names. If the no egg diet helps to decrease tics, I wonder how long before you would see results? If anyone can help me get started It would greatly be appericated!!! This is going to be all new to me and a little scary to start something new when I don't know how it will affect my son. My son has started antiobics for his strep throat so, will see how that goes.

    Thanks Char..

  16. HI,

My son who is seven has tics. He just tested positive for strep. His tics have gotten worse since he's been sick. Does this mean maybe he has pandas? I'm so confused!!!Ever since he was 3 and a half he gets swollen neck glands lots and sore throats lots. Is Pandas a possibility? Any feed back would be appericated.. Thanks Char..

  17. HI,

I just got a call from my sons doctor and he tested positive for strep. I am real confused now. Does this mean maybe my son has Pandas? The doctor is going to start him on antibiotics. Is PANDAS something I should considered? Very confused, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  18. JCSSMOM,

OOPs sorry, My computer was acting up. I posted twice oops. Anyways, I'm in the same boat as you, trying to figure out my sons bowel problem. I took my son to the doctor and asked him why his bowels were so big. His response was he's conspitated and just to wait it out and add more fiber. So if you find anything that will help, will you post and let me know. Did the diet changes help your son to decrease his tics?

  19. To answer you from earlier....he has had TS for 2yrs. now. I am only just now taking him to a neurologist to get an "official diagnosis. I have to take him off his diet though to let the Dr. see all his symptoms. I'm really dreading that. His grades will suffer, I know, because it will take a good 2-3wks. to get back to his normal. I have self-diagnosed him and never had a reason to take him to a neurologist. I knew they would offer no help as to the actual cause. They only offer help with meds when it's out of control.

We've controlled it quite well with diet but over the last 9mos., a few of his mild tics have surfaced and are getting stronger. I am planning to take him to an environmental physician and then to get a dry blood test. I really need the diagnosis though because we may possibly qualify for some federal or state $. I know that sounds awful, but we can't afford to feed him like he needs to right now and it could really help.

My son has had problems smearing in his underwear all his life. All his Dr.s have only ever said is " He's just constipated". The only thing that has helped him so far is a once/mo. enema. I want to know if anyone knows of a natural remedy to help???? Fiber only helps slightly. Also, my daughter has had a similar problem. Only she goes about 3-4 times/mo. When she does go....OUCH! The size would make a grown man cry! Oh, that's right.....she gets it honest from Daddy. Yep! He has stopped up toilets ever since he was born. We could use any info on this subject!!!

  21. Hi,

Thanks everyone for your kind words and answering my questions. I'm so thankful to have found this forum and for people like you who take time to help someone else! Halloween wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm so proud of my son, he told me on Halloween that he knows he can't have candy, so he'll just eat his plain chips. I was so happy, I can't believe how strong willed, he can be sometimes. All Day Halloween, he had a smile on his face even though his tics have increased. I'm hoping after his sickness gets better, his tics will decrease.

    Faith,

Before he was sick, I started to see his tics decrease with the Bonnie Vits and diet changes( no artificials, MSG, High corn syrup). Some of his Tics went away but, never his eye tics. Don't know why? Then when he got sick he was okay but, Halloween morning his tics increased and some old tics came back. My heart just broke!! I toke him to the doctor to check for strep because he has had a sore throat. I wanted just to make sure it wasn't that. I haven't heard back from the doctor yet. I hope my son gets better soon and maybe the tics will decrease again. I am still waiting for his IGG allergy test to come back. I wish they would hurry, so I know if he has food allergies or a yeast problem. I really dislike the waiting game. What has helped your sons tics overall? There are so many things to consider, it all becomes very frustrating.

    Thanks again Everyone, Char....

  22. Hi,

My son has been sick with a cold and cough for a week and a half. This morning he woke up with Tics I haven't seen in awhile. Stretching and crunching his face all the time. When I seen this, my heart just broke, not again. Can sickness make Tics come back? Also he had a sore throat with swollen glands about 2 and a half weeks ago but no fever so, I don't think it was strep. Also yesterday he had homemade brownies with homemade white frosting on them. Could this make the tics worse? Also he was taking 350mg of magnesium taurate and last night I upped it to 500mg because he's been sick. So could that make the Tics worse? Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought we started to control his Tics better but, now I'm not so sure. Every-time I see a new tic, my heart just breaks. I feel so bad for him! My stomach gets in knots and I just feel like crying all day. Sorry to go on but, I'm wondering if anyone else feels like this? Today is Halloween, a great way to start the day. I have been dreading this day all month because my son will want to eat candy like the rest of the kids but he can't because he reacts to artificial coloring. It's going to be a hard day today. I wish I could just go back to bed!!! Any feed back would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Char...
