  1. He's six and weighs 56 pounds. Right now he's taking .05 mg. His doctor said to increase it every 5 days up to two pills until I see a difference. So far so good, no side effects.

As for his libido, he's only 6 so I think he's okay with that right now ;)

    I'll keep you posted.

as for his doctor it is.. Dr. Sobeih in neurology at children's hospital in boston.

He has/had so many tics. When I brought him he was making raspberry sounds, fingers in nose, arm flapping, rubbing his left eye over and over again.

I have noticed a huge decrease in his tics ( I maybe say his finger in his nose 4 or 5 times since he got home from school) and maybe one or two raspberry sounds . For us this is a big improvement.

  2. Last thurs. my son and I went up to boston to see a neurologist. After talking etc... I decided to agree to let my son try a smal dose of clonidine to help with his tics. the most common side affect is drowsiness and I'm happy to say he hasn't exprienced any of that (yet). His tics have decreased about 90 percent and he's feeling good and is the same old kid, but without most of the ticcing. I'm so happy that it is working. today was the first day I noticed a change, the 5th day on the medication. He even came home from school and said, " mommy I didn't even put my fingers in and out of my nose or make sounds all day! he was so excited about it and noticed it. Just thought I'd fill you in on our experience so far.

  3. My son has been on 1tsp of kids calm daily for about 2 mos. now and it has helped his tics immensly.

He tends to get chest infections often and a friend of mine suggestioned probiotics for his immune system.

so of course I'm nervous and wondering if anyone has used any probiotics before and if you did, did it increase tics? Also, can I give it to him while taking Kid's calm? thanks

  4. my ds does tics daily, although it's not all the time during the day. I notice it most in the evening when he's watching a show or when he's concentrating on his homework.

he was on fish oil for a while and I noticed a decrease in his tics for about 2 months. But, after that his tics escalated, so I took him off and noticed a dramatic difference without the fish oil.

We started kids calm about a month ago and that helps A LOT!

  5. How often does he do it? I do that to help blow off steam when I'm stressed out or annoyed (which is quite often, lol).

He used to do it all the time and now just once in a while. I'm trying to figure out if he has motor and vocal tics or just motor tics (for when i talk to dr.). In the past year or two he has only had motor tics except for the rasberry one and that was out during the spring/summer and now is only once in a great while.

  6. After reading things on this board about Kids Calm, I decided to give it a try. Well, he's been on it for 3 weeks now and I've noticed a big difference in his tics. He is no longer sniffing, making his rasberry sound thing, or putting his fingers in his nose! I'm just so happy something is helping him. Thank you all for the suggestion. I'll keep you posted.

  7. Hi,

So I started my son on kids calm tonight (after having an increase in tics with fish oil) and I only gave him 1/2 a tsp. b/c it mentioned something about bowel movement issues if given too much. So, I was wondering if I should give him another 1/2 tsp in the morning or does it cause drowsiness? Has anyone had any negative experiences with stomach issues? my son is 6 and weighs 54 pounds. thanks so much for your input... I just want him to be able to get through his day at school with his tics interferring as little as possible.

  8. After reading through the boards I decided to put my son on fish oil last spring to see if it helped. I noticed a huge difference in his tics and attention up until about the end of July. Then, the tics started to get worse again. Well, I decided to take him off the fish oil about 5 days ago and the tics have decreased a lot. I ordered Kids calm, so I'm going to try that. I'm just nervous that will increase the tics again.
