A very late reply- but this information has been hard to come by:
D1 receptors are involved in the Direct pathway in the basal ganglia- which inhibit behavior according to inputted info
D2 receptors are involved in the Indirect pathway-- which activates appropriate behaviours
One issue that happens with PANDAS is that an autoimmune reaction against the D2 receptors may develop turning off the normal inhibition of unwanted behaviours. OCD and Tourettes are then forms of "escape behaviour" caused by improper gating at the basal ganglia.
