A very late reply- but this information has been hard to come by: D1 receptors are involved in the Direct pathway in the basal ganglia- which inhibit behavior according to inputted info D2 receptors are involved in the Indirect pathway-- which activates appropriate behaviours One issue that happens with PANDAS is that an autoimmune reaction against the D2 receptors may develop turning off the normal inhibition of unwanted behaviours.
