  1. Hi everyone. I need help ASAP please. I saw an ad or post on here yesterday regarding a new treatment called Repreeve. I thought I had bookmarked the website, but can't find it anywhere. I'm trying to do research before they send me their product, but need to find their ad, post or website. If anyone knows any of this, please let me know ASAP. Thank you a head of time! *J*

  2. Hello,

I want to start taking magnesium for my tics, as I understand it's a main tic reducer. Can anyone recommend exactly what type of magnesium they've had success with and if it's more effective when taking it with something else, I think I read some take it with zinc, thanks.

Hi there. From the reading I have done and research, I have found that it is the Magnesium Taurate that works best for tics. (there are different forms of magnesium) I just had to stop the Mag. Taurate I was on because it made me really ill. I've heard that it has worked for a lot of people. As with anything, I would discuss this with your Dr first. Take care. *J*

  3. Hey everybody, I used to have an account here but seems like the usernames had been reset or something. I wanted to come back and seek some help from experienced members. This might be a long post just a fair warning. A little about my self, I am 26 year old male and have had my tics since I was a kid. I have not been diagnosed or even seen a doctor for these tics. I am more that sure I have TS due to having multiple motor tics and a couple vocal tics. Ill put a list of my tics down under here.

    Tics:

    Eye blinking

    Neck jerking

    Full body jerking

    shoulder jerking

    hand and finger moving

    Leg moving

    Throat clearing

    Making a hmm noise

A sound that i can only describe as a donkey noise

    etc.

I recently moved to a new place and I am trying to figure out what may have caused the massive flare up in my tics. I have not had any single vocal tic for maybe 5 years up until last summer June 2014 which was before I moved into my new house. I had a vocal tic from June 2014 to about August 2014. The vocals went away from august till about December, as a matter of fact there was a 2 month period where I was about 99% tic free. Then randomly my tics blew up into a horrible uncontrollable way. I pretty much had maximum 5 seconds of tic free time during the day. They were so bad I started to get depressed and did not want to leave my house. I had already moved into my new house at this point, after about 2 months they some what calmed down, but the vocal tic had not stopped after a month of more calm tics they increased once again and here I am today.. Multiple high frequency vocals and motors.

At this point I am starting to get depressed again feeling like I have zero control over my mind and body. I hate being out most of the time because i am just uncomfortable 90% of the time. I have been doing some research and I have conflicting theories. Many places say that there is no evidence that proves that natural treatments such as diet changes and supplementation help and this website says they do.

I have tried tons of supplements with zero luck. I have tried multivitamins, l-carnitine, taurine, B complex, fish oil, flaxseed oil, magnesium citrate, calcium citrate, inositol, and more. Zero luck with any of these supplements.

Could I possible have a environmental allergy? I tried to use a nasal steroid for allergies and I think it may have blown up my tics once again. I feel this way because they eased up a bit once I stopped.

What can I do guys? I really don't want to do on meds because I have read way too many negative reviews on them. I know I cant cure this but I just want to reduce my tics by half at least and get rid of the vocals. I want to feel more relaxed and be able to be happy when I go out. I have not even been able to properly workout at the gym which is my passion, because my tics are horrible when I workout.

Im afraid of going to the doctor, because I have no insurance and it feels like any time they hear that they see nothing but dollar signs.

Any advice is appreciated thank you guys.

Hi there. Stress, anxiety, being tired, etc can make tics much worse. Most people with TS find that when they concentrate on something that their tics lesson. I have found this myself. I know for a fact that when I am expecting stress, anxiety, etc., that my tics will kick up big time. I've tried everything under the sun, and came here looking for some hope myself. I've had TS + since 6 and I just turned 43. I hope you're able to find the answer it seems we both seek. Take care and good luck! *J*

  4. My 7 year old son has started blinking and shrugging his shoulders few weeks back. I started him on magnesium taurate and b vitamins. Sometimes he takes Epsom salt baths. I give him flax oil on and off,

I recently noticed that his skin around the genitals area has turned very dark. I don't know for how long it has been like this and if this is normal. Sometimes, I have seen him scratch there so maybe it is itching. But when I ask him, he says he is fine.

I am still in the process of reading as much as possible to educate myself. My husband had facial tics when he was in middle school for a couple of years. But he doesn't do it anymore. So there is definitely a genetic component involved.

Do you of you know if this is some kind of infection that could be related to tics. We live in a small town and the pediatrician just said that my son has a tics and that it will pass with time.

Hi there. My honest suggestion would be to talk to a Dr about this, especially when it comes to children. If your son is scratching there and there is in fact a change in coloration of skin, that will be your best bet. Also, if you believe this started after your son started any medications, supplements , etc, then you can always speak to a pharmacist as well. And yes, this does sound like skin irritation, or even an infection. I hope you were able to find the answers you needed. *J*

  5. Hi everyone. I've had TS + since I was 6 and I am now 43. I've tried every medication under the sun and now my tics are worse than ever. My OCD incorporates itself into my TS where I don't do the counting thing, but instead the 'how it feels/pain' thing. I am suffering from tremendous pain as well as so frustrated that I can't stop that I'm beside myself. I've just recently discovered that food as well as other things like chemicals, etc could be make tics worse. My allergist has tested me for trees, wasps and bee's. The only food testing that was done was on crab and lobster, though. So, because of what I have been reading I want to be able to tell my allergist what I would like to be tested for to further rule out things....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate at this point as I am at a loss for what to do about my ticcing. (I have also tried the Magnesium Taurate, but it made me sick) Thank you a head of time for any responses and I'll apologize now for all the reading.

  6. My 6 year old son with no past medical history has experienced a pretty rapid onset of tics. It started about a month ago with sniffing and then blinking (which I just monitored), and within the last two days, he has added throat clearing and spit slurping - and he is suddenly doing all of these almost constantly. We went from minor to major interference in daily life, including school. He also has an incredibly red and swollen nasal passage that we can't quite figure out. We saw an allergist, but the tests turned up nothing significant. Does anyone have any experience with such a rapid onset or with this nose issue? I can't help but think his nose has something to do with all these tics. We are in St. Louis if anyone has any good docs in the area. Thank you so much for your help. This is heartbreaking. :(

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear about your son. I've had TS since the age of 6 and I am now 43 with my TS being worse than ever. I have a sniffling/snorting tic and am having problems myself. Thankfully (I guess) I knew what to look for. It does sound like he has a sinus infection. I would suggest using a neti pot to clear out his sinus passages, but do NOT use tap water or regular table salt with this. You can buy the mix or make it homemade. I would obviously contact his Dr to get an appt to have him looked at to verify it is in fact a sinus infection. If so, antibiotics can be prescribed. Also ask about the neti pot. Also, if he has dry sinus passages, ask about using Ocean spray. It's been a bit since your post, so I hope all has been fixed since then. *hugs* J
