I have come to rely on intuition. I know it sounds silly, but in my heart I just know what is really right or really wrong. Don't completely dismiss these feelings.

We have never tested DD13 for metals, but she was quite electrosensitive with a significant increase of symptoms especially ticcing and shin pain/headache when exposed to EMFs in malls, library, museums, school etc. It makes sense to me that tissue metal burden would increase electrosensitivity.

I too was nervous about IV chelation, and apparently our LLMD was as well because she never did suggest it for DD. I saw others in her office undergoing the procedure, but none were children.

When a bit of motor ticcing was the last symptom to resolve after undertaking Buhner's bart/babs protocols, I decided to try a more natural chelation. We use 4 drops of organic cilantro tincture (Flower Fairy Herbs) 3x daily (8am, 3pm, 9pm). 2 hours after the first 2 doses (at 10am and 5pm), I dose DD with 1/2 tbsp. diatomaceous earth. She also takes psyllium with the second dose of DE (to keep everything moving along).

The original protocol I found used pascalite clay. But being concerned about the potential amount of aluminum in the pascalite and not knowing the state of DD's intestinal lining (leaky gut) I opted for DE.

The decline in DD's motor ticcing was noticeable within 2 days. We have kept up the regimen and a mouth stretching tic only temporarily returned for a month after dental extractions. They have resolved again since her teeth have shifted.

DD's electrosensitibity has also significantly resolved, as has my own ( I am dosing myself as well). She can no longer tell when she is an area with WIFI, although we try hard to keep exposure at a minimum at home (wired computers and phones, cell phones on airplane mode most of the time, circuits off in bedrooms at night).

One caution. Thinking that more would be better, I initially increased cilantro dosage to 10 drops 3x daily. Yeast infection was the almost immediate result. Apparently the body will allow yeast to bloom in the gut if there is a large release of metal into the intestines. The yeast helps to sequester the metal and keeps it from being reabsorbed. More is not better here.

We have never tested for mercury or metals, but before starting a natural chelation protocol recommended by Julie McIntyre (Buhner's associate), DD13 and myself were quite electrosensitive, which I think is an indication of metal burden. I experienced palpitations, jitteriness and some brain fog, while DD showed increased motor ticcing, headache and fatigue.

I wasn't willing to do chelation through our LLMD, however we did start supplementing with organic cilantro tincture (5 drops 3x daily) (Flower Fairy Herbal Healer) and diatomaceous earth (1 tsp 2x daily), which is a more natural long-term chelation. Within 2 weeks we were no longer electrosensitive. Hopefully that means our burden of metals has declined.

The above author suggests pascalite clay, but being concerned with the amount of aluminum it might contain, I opt for Diatomaceous earth for our binder.

Then of course I figured that if a little was good then more would be better, so I started dosing at a rate of 10 drops 3x daily, and within a few days DD developed a whopper of a yeast infection (and she doesn't often get those). I have read that the body will allow proliferation of yeast if there is a large release of metals into the intestine. The yeast keeps the metal sequestered there to decrease reabsorption through the intestinal wall.

It was interesting that as soon as I decreased cilantro dosage, the yeast infection cleared up.

Mercury can also be bound to sulfhydryl groups in garlic or to sulfur in the form of organic sulfur (MSM).

We also supplement 1/4 tsp MSM 2x daily.

Absolutely! And, I'm sorry to say, there can be more than that. My son has tested positive for (or been clinically diagnosed with) Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, HHV6, Epstein Barr, heavy metals, and mold toxicity. He also had pneumonia 5 times, but we never knew if it was mycoplasma. Jan251 explained it perfectly - it's the immune system.

The mercury can come from several sources: fish, amalgams, some vaccines, and little ones can pick it up in utero/breastfeeding from a mom who's been exposed to one or more of these sources.

If your daughter has elevated mercury, you need to chelate, but it's extremely important to have it done by an experienced, knowledgeable doctor who also understands methylation and treats Lyme, etc. DAN! doctors are well-versed in chelation and some - like ours - are also Lyme-literate. Chelation needs to be done slowly, carefully, and in the correct order with other treatments for methylation deficiencies, Lyme, coinfections, viruses, etc.

lbee reacted to mythree in Habit reversal for tics?
    Hello,
My 12 year old daughter has just completed CBIT (behavioural intervention therapy for tics) - pretty much same jist as HRT. She has had amazing success at it. She has tourettes, adhd (inattentive type) and anxiety.
She has had tics since 5 years old. We have tried, diet, vitamins, naturopaths, osteopaths, homeopaths, integrative doctors, metal detox, and a year of antibiotics for PANDAS treatment. All with various levels of success. However, she was accepted into the CBIT program in October and has gone every week to the hospital clinic that specialises in it. She also has to work on it everyday at home/school/dance. The clinic also does a lot of therapy etc to get at the root of her anxiety - which she/we didn't even realise she had anxiety. She has just graduated from the program last week. She is amazed at how tic free she is and how she can stop a tic if she feels it is going to start. With Tourettes - you can never cure the tics - but she is able to do a competing response when she feels the tic coming on to stop it before it becomes a noticeable or problematic tic. In turn, the need to tic has greatly reduced.

She worked on a neck roll that would leave her in pain, a neck thrust, a back bending tic, a breathing tic, a facial grimace, arm snapping to name a few.
She has done remarkable at it. We were told they usually don't start people on this program until they are an age to really understand it. I also have an 8 year old with tourettes and OCD but they said she was too young to start the habit reversal properly. If started to young - it could cause more anxiety.

It is a lot of work - but in her words SO worth it. She is the happiest and most carefree I have seen her in years. We went to a hospital in Toronto, Ontario to work on it.
