  1. Hi,

My daughter does not have tics that you notice everyday I see them once in awhile but it's nice to know about this doctor. I live in close. When you state the below, was that at the doctors request or does he believe that food makes a diffenerce?

We have learned a lot about his allergies and food sensitivities and have gone organic/green over the past 3 years but FINALLY a doctor has stepped up and is showing me HOW the brain works and WHAT can be done to help my son.

I'm glad you found a doctor that can help. I will keep him in mind in case. My daughter tics occasionally but she has digestive problems which I think is connected. I would of definetly taken her to see this doctor a few years ago when she had back problems

    from ticcing.

  2. Below is a more detailed video. I honestly believe my daughters was effected by her shots at 12. This concerns me very much a

vaccine for swine flu. At the same time I always look at both sides and worry if i'm making the right decision. The gardisal shot was an easy one, I did not let her get it. They wanted to give her the second vaccine for chicken pox and I said "no" but worry about that decision for the future. Looking at this vidio why can't I be 100% sure I don't want her to have it. I'm always worring what if....

  3. My opinion is that the vaccine is potentially very dangerous and will not be adequately tested. I fear they will try to make it mandatory. I disagree with giving it in the schools. I want the right to self quaranteen my family, but the more I read, the more afraid I am that I will not have that option. I will not be getting it or letting my children get it.

So far, everyone in my community that has had H1N1, has had a mild case and recovered quickly. One of my kids has already been exposed to it- not gotten it yet. I think I would rather get it now, then we will hopefully be immune for the fall and winter.

IF you get the swine flu or any flu, I HIGHLY recommend taking oscilloccocinum. It is FDA approved and works similiarly to Tamiflu, WITHOUT the side effects of Tamiflu. I have taken it while pregnant, have given it to a one year old-12 year old. It cuts the viral load in half, and after the first dose, you start feeling better. It has worked wonders for us through many flu seasons.

    Is oscilloccocinum a homeopathic remedy?

    thx

Hi, oscilloccocinum is homeopathic it states on the box no side effects and no drug interations, it's made by Borion. When My DH and DD and my self got the flu my DH took Tamiflu and DD and myself took oscillococcinum. It took us all a week to get over the flu completely. Does oscilliococcinum work, I don't know. I questioned ordering it again but I did and then my son got the flu a few months later and I gave it to him and he was sick for about a week. Will I order more, probably. You can try iherb.com because it is expensive. When I ordered mine I got 2 for 1 deal.

  5. I don't know if you hear about the swine flu at least 3 times a week on the news or in the paper but I do. It gets me nervous when I think about it. Love to hear your opinions on this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEii1eMBHtE

  6. Hi - My daughter also gets knee pain and sometimes her leg hurts. In fact the other day she was wearing(I forgot what it is called)

knee support. My daughter was in track before the tics and she was fine. When she got the tics that year her knee started hurting. Her knee hurts now if she walks alot. I definetly think there is a connection with the tics. My daughter does not have panda's. I hope you find the answeres you are looking for. I find it so frustrating going to doctors because they don't see the whole picture and they look at you like you are nuts. You said pandas has a history of leg pain. I know my daughter had a blood test for panda's and it came out fine. I lent my book( Shelia Rogers) out so I can't check. If I remeber correctly she said it was common for aches and pains but I don't remember specifictly if she mentioned leg and knees. Did you try Natural calm with Magnesium. I could not get my daughter to take it she is very picky but alot of kids on this forum take it with know compliants. You can put it in search box. Good luck I understand completely.

  7. Hi Maryann,

Did your dd take an epsom salts bath yet?

My son, 15yo too, plays so much sports and he does complain about sore legs, sometimes its arms. He says it does go away after the baths. I have offen wondered if my sons problem was like what weight lifting does to the muscles. Maybe a guy could explain this better, but why one does not weight lift the same muscles two days in a row.

Maybe your daughter just ran her heart out that day and needs those leg muscles to repair themselves.

    CP

Hi, I forgot about Epson salt- Thanks CSP

  8. Maryann,

not sure how old your daughter is but a friend of mine has a son who legs (calves) hurt alot and they dismissed it to growing pains.

Her husband said his legs hurt the same way.

I know some believe in growing pains and some do not......just thought I would mention it.

Not sure what the doctors call is on growing pains either...

Hi Myrose My daughter is 15. I don't think it is growing pains. It is from the mile run. I was comparing her to the other kids and she said they are fine. My daughter does excersize almost everyday so I would think a mile run would not effect her as it did.

Then I was thinking mabey everyone legs hurt and my daughter the only one complaining .

  9. My daughter had to do a mile run in gym yesterday. I't took her 11 minutes. She use to be able to do it in 6 mins when she was in track a few years ago. Well any way her legs are really hurting today. IS that normal. According to her everybody else is fine in class. She woke up this morning and she said she felt like she was going to colaspe that her legs where giving out. I remember when I was young when I did too much excersize I felt the same. Sometimes I feel like I worry too much about everything. My daughter excersizes mostly everyday. She told me today the teachers where asking her why she was not doing certain things in gym and she told them her legs hurt but they did not take her serious and thought she was kidding.

  10. I took my daughter to the eye doctor last week. She has had a stye since late October. This is the second doctor I saw he never said it was a stye I did and he never corrected me and said any different.Im starting to think it is a chalazion(lump in the eye lid). He put her on antibiotics and drops. It looked like it was going away and now its coming back. He mentioned surgery and of course my daughter wants anesthesia. I am having her put a hot cloth on her eye 4 times a day now. Does anybody know what else I could do. I read about the chalazion and from reading about it only 5% have surgery and it should be your last resort.

    Thanks

Ps I asked my doctor if this could have any thing to do with the tics, meaning the immune system. He looked at me like I had two heads and said its like a pimple and has nothing to do with tics. My daughter of course was embarrassed that I asked. I still think there is a connection. I remember the first time she had tics in her neck it was her first tic. She also had a eye infection her eyelid was swollen and when we went to doctor

he called it a wierd name I never heard of and I bet it was a chalazion. He gave ointment and it went away. Again; this time when she got it her eye was ticing something I have not seen in a few months. I hate going to doctors!!!!

  11. Bonnie,

For me, yes, there are circumstances that I would opt for a vaccine for myself or my children. It wouldn't be a matter of breaking "down though." (i'm not picking on you honestly i know exactly where that type of remark comes from, been there..done that!) An example, i'm still concerned about chicken pox for my boys who are older now and the complications for chicken pox increase as you age. Oldest son has had a couple of staph infections (staph is a danger with pox). I have been putting off titer testing, because I really didn't know what I would do if they came back without a level that is considered to confer immunity ( i don't believe these levels are necessarily the "end all" in "proving" protective immunity, but that's another subject). I have the order for titer testing here. Dr. (young guy, WAY different attitude than older Ped's). He didn't hassle me about "catching up" on immunizations for the boys, and told me if they didn't show immunity, that I might consider jumping right to the shingles vax. As others have pointed out here, the 2nd varicella vaccine is not going to give them long term protection from shingles, might even increase odds. The 2nd dose is not a guarantee that they won't get CP's in their 30' or 40' either. It isn't known how this is going to play out yet. I'm STILL struggling with it. CP vaccine doesn't contain aluminum or thimerosal, but it is a live viral vaccine that is injected rather than passing thru the normal barriers that the human body provides. What normal reactions are changed when that happens? Yet, i have to take (what i can possibly understand) about their immune function, liver health etc. and try to decide the lesser of two evils. My whole point here, is that each child, the history of reactions to other vaccines, the health of the child at the time, the use of anti biotics, the risks that a particular disease poses to a particular child ALL NEEDS to be taken into consideration when it comes to vaccination. That is not likely to happen. Profit potential is enormous when you develope a vaccine that is going to be injected into the masses, not individual children. Children with medical conditions are not allowed into the clinical trials, but once approved, everyone gets them (with rare exception). Does that make sense to anyone????

Wouldn't studies by unbiased (no financial conflicts of interests) be wonderful. Wouldn't it be great if these studies had been ongoing for years. What if it were proven that certain vaccines were safer than the natural illness for people with certain autoimmune conditions. My personal feeling is that there may be a resonable case to be made for certain vaccines for certain individuals, but the program as it stands is insane as far as i'm concerned.

Going to leave a copy regarding tetanus here, that I posted on the PANDAS forum recently. I think it spells out why a 6th tetanus containing vaccine is not a priority in my book for my boys. If they were to get a wound that was infected with feces, didn't bleed and had impaired circulatory function AND were severely magnesium deficient, i may consider the risk/reward substantial. As it stands, i'm much more concerned about them not wearing a helmet while riding a bike, them being hit by a driver that's talking on a cell phone, playing a sport on a field when you can hear thunder, or being harmed by a medical error.

    previous post.....

I just have to share some things for your consideration regarding your concern about tetanus boosting. As always, do your own reseach!

It used to be that a tetanus/diptheria (TD) vaccine was used for boosting every 10 years. Since they have decided that 5 previous doses of any combo of DTP or the newer DTaP isn't enough to confer any long lasting protection from pertussis, they have gone to using the newer vax which supposedly can (magically ?) be safely given every 5 years instead of 10, regarding the tetanus portion anyway. If your daughter is fully vaccinated, she probably received some combo of DTaP at 2, 4, 6, months then again btwn 15 and 18 months, then again around the age of 5. The good news is that the older TD vaccine when drawn from a multidose vial, still contains mercury. The newer DTaP does not, but does contain alum, used to prompt an unnatural immune response. Alum is a known neurotoxin with no long term safety studies looking at the combined amts. used in the current vax schedule. So..this will be her SIXTH vax in this series.

If you consider that the incidence of tetanus was said to be btwn 500 and 600 hundred cases per year, prior to the infant immunization program in the late 1940's, well, it is an incredibly rare disease when considering the size of the population (when you consider the info below, is it really worth it?). I have included some info which is taken from an article talking about the older TD vaccine, but you will see how it talks about reactions being higher in "boosters" given after the primary series. Also, I've included an article which talks about "immunity" possibly being longer lasting than what we're currently lead to believe.

If I'm going to inject an neurologically sensitive person with antigen, metals, and other chemicals, I want to know there is a darn good reason for it. I will never forgive myself for allowing the Hep B birth dose and blindly injecting my babies/kids with every stupid thing that was put before me. Sorry, I start out calm and try to be so objective, but I end up angry most times, so I'm going to shut up now!

    QUOTE

Secular Trends in the United States A marked decrease in mortality from tetanus occurred from the early 1900s to the late 1940s. In the late 1940s, tetanus toxoid was introduced into routine childhood immunization and tetanus became nationally notifiable. At that time, 500–600 cases (approximately 0.4 cases per 100,000 population) were reported per year. After the 1940s, reported tetanus incidence rates declined steadily. Since the mid-1970s, 50–100 cases (0.05 cases per 100,000) have been reported annually. The death-to-case ratio has declined from 30% to approximately 10% in recent years. An all-time low of 20 cases (0.01 cases per 100,000) were reported in 2003

    NERVOUS SYSTEM

The following neurologic illnesses have been reported as temporally associated with vaccine containing tetanus toxoid: neurological complications14 including cochlear lesion,15 brachial plexus neuropathies,15,16 paralysis of the radial nerve,17 paralysis of the recurrent nerve,15 accommodation paresis, Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS),and EEG disturbances with encephalopathy.18 The IOM following review of the reports of neurologic events following vaccination with tetanus toxoid, Td or DT, concluded the evidence favored acceptance of a causal relationship between tetanus toxoid and brachial neuritis and GBS.9,19

    and

There is an increased incidence of local and systemic reactions to booster doses of tetanus toxoid when given to previously immunized persons

    and

The occurrence of tetanus in the US has decreased dramatically from 560 reported cases in 1947 to a record low of 48 reported cases in 1987. Tetanus in the US is primarily a disease of older adults. Of 99 tetanus patients with complete information reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during 1987 and 1988,68% were =50 years of age, while only six were < 20 years of age. Overall, the case-fatality rate was 21%.2 In 1992, 45 cases were reported of which 82% were =50 years of age.6 The disease continues to occur almost exclusively among persons who are unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated or whose vaccination histories are unknown or uncertain.

A history of systemic allergic or neurologic reactions following a previous dose of DT is an absolute contraindication for further use.2

Adverse reactions may be local and include redness, warmth, edema, induration, with or without tenderness, as well as urticaria, and rash. Malaise, transient fever, pain, hypotension, nausea and arthralgia may develop in some patients after the injection. Arthus-type hypersensitivity reactions, characterized by severe local reactions (generally starting 2 to 8 hours after an injection) may occur, particularly in persons who have received multiple prior boosters.2

Rarely, an anaphylactic reaction (i.e., hives, swelling of the mouth, difficulty breathing, hypotension, or shock) and death have been reported after receiving preparations containing diphtheria and tetanus antigens.

Hi Kim, I am in the same boat as you as far as the CP vaccine. My daughter last check up they requested that she receive the second CP vaccine and I told the doctor my reasons for not wanting her to get it. I requested for the titers and she told me to wait for her next year blood work but she also asked why and asked what I would do if she needed the CP vaccine. I told her I don't know and I am so mad at myself for letting her get that shot. I remember at the time I was unsure and they talked me into it. I watched four of her friends when they had the chicken pox and prayed my daughter would get even thow she had the vaccine. I worry alot about all these decisions we have to make and if they are the correct ones.

Has anyone child had the CP Vaccine and had bad reaction.

  12. Thanks for the replies, Chemar and Maryann.

Just a clarification - Is Plumsmart high in salicylates?

    Cheers,

    Shy

Hi I am not familier with Salicylates, and I tried looking at some charts under plum and it's funny some charts say plums are low in salicylates and others say its high. You can call sunsweet.

Send Questions and Comments to sunsweet@casupport.com or call our Consumer Relations Department at (800) 417-2253, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.

  13. Hi, Did you ever try PlumSmart by sunsweet. It's really good,it helped my daughter with constapation. She did not like it but I thought it tasted really good. My daughter is very picky. I use to add just a little grape juice to it and she was fine. I hope your daughter feeling better. Maryann

  14. Hi CSP- Thanks, and true. My husband swears by the b's. I just saw commercial on the show The Doctor's about the swine flu and they said something about building your immune system too. I think that show is going to be on tomorrow. You can't get away from hearing about it! I just thought of something last time I had the Flu my asthma and allergies kicked in, im going to start my singular today. THANKS

  15. Hi- I'm starting to worry about the Swine flu. My daughter and I already had the flu and we both had it pretty bad. My daughter had the flu for a week and I had it for 5 days but my cough lasted for 2 and half months. We both used oscillococcinum the homopathic medicine. I'm watching the news alot and they keep talking about the tamiflu. So far the flu is staying mild but if it does start getting severe would you give your kids tamiflu?

I'm probably worrying to soon, but just curious. Thank you

  16. Check out Dr. Fine's website:

    https://www.enterolab.com/StaticPages/Frame...q.htm#diagnosed

IMO gluten intolerance can cause many metabolic problems in the absence of celiac. There are nine gluten intolerant genes and only 2 are associated with celiac. I don't know what kind of test your son took, but I am assuming it was a blood test. Dr. Fine does a stool test that is much more specific. Also, two years ago it might not have been in the blood and now it could be if your child is gluten intolerant genetically and eating gluten on a daily basis. This is a regressive disease. You are born with the gene and your diet plays a huge role in whether or not you develop a disease related to the gluten intolerance. It is toxic if you have the gene. Dr. Fine does genetic testing as well. We have tested our family and are taking a preventative route rather than waiting for symptoms to worsen.

Hi Caryn, I don't know if you remember. I spoke to you before on celiac tests. My daughter got her blood work from Great plain labs and the blood test came out Negative. She had a very low number. no where near the range for celiac. She took the igg and came out in mid range for bakers yeast. Stool and urine also showed yeast. I just was reading Dr. fine's website. Do you think the blood test is enough? I have been meaning to ask you about mindlinx that you once recommended, do you also recommend if not celiac? I have my daughter eaten gluten free pasta. I know its easier on the digestive system but is it better for the yeast? I apologize for all the questions -thanks so much for your help

  17. Hi I just came across this website thru googling my son's symptoms. I must say i am very overwhelmed and don't know where to start. I'd say for the last couple months i'd noticed my son making a hm hmm sound when I was putting him to bed at night. I just figured it was his way of calming down, but in the last couple of weeks he started doing it during the day and I noticed his eyes blinking hard with the sounds. The last 2 days he has been sniffing ALOT, the hmming hasn't been happening much now. He also is very sensitive to sound and changes. I don't think he has any problems with socialization, he's shy and needs some adjustment time, but then plays fine. I'm going to be speaking to his teachers at church this Sunday to make sure. He is 5 and i home school him. He is very addicted to video games. I use them as a reward for 2 hours a day, when he has completed his school. He is a very picky eater, he eats gogurt, applesauce, waffles, french toast, strudels, strawberries, apples, and mcd's chicken nuggets and fries, but that is about it. He just recently has been drinking alot of strawberry milk, i'm wondering if that has anything to do with his sniffing. He also has a very short fuse and has many meltdowns a day. I'm not sure how to handle them, it tends to get very overwhelming. Since i've noticed there might be something wrong with him i've been more patient, but it is still so hard, i have 3 other children i homeschool and he can be quite a distraction and draining! I know this is alot, but there seems to be so many educated people on these issues. If you would give me any direction and advice I would so appreciate it. I'm sad and frustrated I can't see the dr. for almost 2 weeks to even start looking into this. Thank you so much.

    Wendy

    Hi Wendy,

I think I looked it up once before and Mcd's chicken nuggets and fries do have msg. My daughter gets very sick one to many times and I hope she knows better now. My daughter also made the hmm sound. She is doing pretty well by elimating Msg and artifical flavors. I remember when this first started and two weeks is a long time to wait for a doctors appt. when you don't know whats going on, hang in there. Im sure your going to get alot of good advise. Elimating Msg and artifical flavors is a good start. Maryann

  18. Thanks for your reply Dee.

I called the doctor yesterday and he said that my kid shouldn't be eating pork. She shouldn't be eating salmon either. I'm at my wits end. She can't take chicken, soy-based products, eggs ... Now, the only meat she can take is lamb and some types of fish and even then, he says fish should only be taken twice a week. What exactly can I feed her? She is reallllly hungry. And her tics seem tp have worsened as well. not sure what's causing this new spate of tics. Any suggestions/ideas to help a lost and troubled mum?

Thanks for giving me some sanity amidst all this - i really turn to this website whenever I am troubled.

    Shy

Hi , I was wondering if you asked the doctor about the l- glutamine and msg? My daughter previous took l-glutamine and I was thinking of putting her back on it. Thank you Maryann

I'm back to looking for a a good multi. My daughter is currently on The vitamin code but she can't take the smell of it and she gags.

I have been looking for the past couple of months for another good one and find myself keep coming back to New Chapter Only one. The only problem is this has lemon in it and she came out sensitive to lemon on the igg, Medium on the scale. I thought I would try it any way but I also have a concerns about soy. I read good things about soy and bad. I'm not sure but I thought I read some where soy is not good for kids. My daughter is 15. 20. Hi, I think I found a doctor that i'm going to stick with. I went a little bit to far by showing her all the tests that I took but she was willing to listen, who knows what she really thinks. The only reason I say that is becauce she was fine then left the room for second opinion on one of the test and came back with A different attidude. She is the only DO there so I could imagine what the other doctor told her.

Well any way the nurse came in at first and told me my daughter needed the booster for the chicken pox and I told her no thanks and I will talk to the Doc. When I explained it to her she said by all means do not give it to her. Then I asked if I could get titer test and she said why your not going to give it to her either way. I told her I don't know and she said I have time and next blood test she will add it on which is fine with me. Here is the problem, My daughter on the way home told me she wants the chicken pox vaccine. I explained why I do not want her to have it and she said she does not care if the tics explode. It's funny because my daughter never did. She complained sometimes about her back hurting from the tics but never the tics itself. So any way she tells me I hope you can find somebody with the chicken pox that I can hang around with or let me have the shot. She told me she does not want to worry about this when she decides to have a baby. My daughter is perfectly fine with not getting the gardersil shot that is

another vaccine she asked about because all her friends where getting it. The vaccine for the chicken pox is something im going to have to think about after the titer test. Did anybody get the booster vaccine?

  21. HI FAITH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONCE. I BELIEVE MY DAUGHTER GETS SICK FROM GREASY FOODS. THE FRENCH FRIES I BELIEVE WAS FROM THE GREASE. I DEFINETLY BELIEVE SHE HAS A REATION TO MSG BECAUSE WHEN SHE HAS RANCH DRESSING SHE IMMEDIATELY DOES THE HUH SOUND RIGHT AFTER. AT FIRST I DID NOT KNOW WHY SHE DID THAT UNTIL I SAW IT ON THE NEWS ABOUT PARENTS COMPLAINING ABOUT MSG AND THEY SHOWED A BOTTLE OF THE RANCH DRESSING MY DAUGHTER LOVES AS A EXAMPLE. THE NEWS SPOKE ABOUT MOSTLY HEADACHES AND STOMACH ACHES BUT THEY ALSO SAID SOME PARENTS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT NERO EFFECTS. SHE USE TO HAVE THAT RANCH DRESSING ALL THE TIME AND HAS NOT MADE THAT SOUND SINCE SHE STOPPED. WHEN EVER MY DAUGHTER GETS SICK FROM GREASE ITS MOSTLY HER GUT I DO NOT NOTICE A INCREASE IN TICS SO YOU DO RAISE A GOOD POINT. IF SHE EATS THE RIGHT FOOD SHE DOES NOT GET SICK SO ILL SEE, I HATE THE THOUGHT OF TAKING HER BACK TO THESE DOCTORS! I AM GOING TO WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN, THANKS AGAIN FAITH
