  1. Thanks for the feedback. We saw the neurologist who said that there is not enough evidence to support PANDAS. She did rule out any other things going on. Our daughter is six and has acute onset ocd caused by strep. Her adivce was to take her to see a Psychiatrist and have her put on medication.
  2. We have our first appt. on 9/9. She is be treated for strep currently with amox. Does strep cause inflammation?
  3. Thanks for all of your insight. Yes, very frustrating! We have been seeing our primary care pediatrician until we could get into see a pediatrician that specializes in PANDAS. We have an appt. with him on 9/9.
  4. What should the role of a neurologist in regard to PANDAS?
  5. What is the best antibiotic to treat Strep? We asked our doctor for something stronger than Amoxicillin. She told us that Amoxicillin is the strongest antibiotic for strep and "is like killing a fly with a nuclear bomb." We believe that she has no idea what she is talking about. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  6. Does PANDAS cause brain Inflammation? If so what should we be using to treat it? None of the Doctors that we have spoken believe that brain inflammtion is a factor with the PANDAS. Thank you!
  7. Thanks so much for all of the responses. Is it possible to have a herx reaction from Strep?
  8. We are baffled. We went to the Doctor on 8/22/13. Our Daughter was diagnosed with PANDAS. She had strep infection and acute onset OCD... She was put on antibiotics; Amoxicillin 250 mg./5ml/10 days with one refill. Her OCD symptoms were very severe. After the seventh day of being on antibiotics and Ibuprofen (1x day), her OCD symptoms disappeared to about 98% symptom free. She went 4 days with almost no signs of OCD symptoms. Now today, she has again started to show a lot of OCD symptoms again. Not sure what happened. She is still on the Amoxicillin and Ibuprofen. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the Lyme info. We are definitely going to have her tested for Lyme.
  10. We are about 2 1/2 from North NJ. I have read some about Dr.T. It looks like he does not take insurance. Actually, it seems like a lot of the PANDAS experts do not take insurance. If we cannot find anyone closer that takes insurance, he is a consideration for us. Do you know anything about him? How expensive is he? Our current Ped. is not open to long term ABX. Our daughter has only been on them for 5 days. Not sure when we should start to see results. We would definitely like to find a Doctor of any type that believes in long term ABX.
  11. Thanks for the response. I would be open to that. I was not aware that they would prescribe for one year. Is there anyone that you would recommend?
  12. Hi, We live in the Lehigh Valley. We are looking for a Pediatrician in the Lehigh Valley area that is experienced in dealing with PANDAS and is open to long term antibiotic treatment. Thanks.
