  1. Suzan, I accidentally stumbled upon your post. It has taken some effort, but I finally got registered to post on this site and found my way to this page to post a reply. The Herx reaction is rough, but you only get that if there is die-off from the Lyme. Be encouraged that you are making progress. I have been sick with Lyme for 15 years now. I was told there was nothing wrong with me, it was all in my head, and repeatedly misdiagnosed before I found my naturopathic doctor. He has become a Lyme specialist through his study and his experience with diagnosing and treating Lyme patients. He has had me detox-ing about nine different ways for the past 16 months. I have gone through 8 boxes of the Deseret Biologicals Borrelia 10M Series Therapy, (I call it my hemlock; trying to keep my sense of humore) as well as one box of the Bartonella series. I have made it from being absolutely miserable and sleeping about 20 hours a day to actually feeling pretty good and sleeping around 9 or 10 hours a day. Those hours of sleep are just not exactly the hours of the day that I would prefer to be sleeping ... my adrenals are still off-balance, so I typically sleep from around midnight or 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. I've learned to just accept it and sleep when my body tells me I need the rest. In addition to the Borrelia series, my doctor has me do several other things. The most helpful has been the coffee enemas, disgusting though they may be. Soaking in a tub of water with a cup of Epsom salts and a half cup of baking soda every night has helped; add a few drops of lavendar oil to the water to help you relax. Actually, the first thing he had me do was a 28-day detox to cleanse the liver: http://www.amazon.com/Metagenics-UltraClear-Natural-Health-Beauty/dp/B004GLEU3M/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1362109189&sr=8-8&keywords=Metagenics+Ultra+Clear He also has me on a supplement called ATP Fuel to help body cells rebuild: https://www.researchednutritionals.com/store/item.cfm?code=CRN130 Also, a product called Ora Adren 80 to boost the adrenals, and one called Candidex to kill the candida. Lyme feeds on candida, which feeds on sugars (even fruit sugars) and carbohydrates like rice so be careful about what you eat. Lyme affects every part of the body - wherever it can lodge itself in the body. Some people have brain flashes, a heartbeat flip-flop feeling, digestion issues, "fibromyalgia" (muscle pain), neuropathy, toenail fungus, athlete's foot, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, and some people have lost the ability to walk and/or talk. (Have you seen "Under Our Skin"?) I think most Lyme victims have depression and anxiety, which results in simply being placed on mood altering drugs and then, for the most part, ignored. You may find encouragement by joining one of the Facebook Lyme groups. Lyme is terrible, but you CAN work you way back to a normal life. Just remember what a friend of mine told me: Sometimes, you have to feel worse before you can feel better. You WILL get there, if you don't give up!
