  1. I've had a blinking tic since I was in my teens (I'm now 28). The tic feels as though it is harder on the right eyelid, and it often happens simultaneously with a sniff. I've also had a shoulder shrugging thing while walking for quite a few years as well. Recently this seems to have started to occur when I'm sitting down and has started to involve an element of neck/head movement. It is strange - my neck/shoulder muscles feel stiff and it feels as though the movements are some sort of reaction to that. I have no vocal tics. The blinking tic disappeared for a few months when I started taking magnesium supplements a few years ago. But those supplements now have no effect. It makes me wonder whether it was a placebo effect and that the tic is mainly a psychological problem. I was hoping that the blinking tic would disappear with age, but the whole thing seems to be getting worse. I've been to see two different GPs about this in the last few years, but they say that I should "try to control it" and that it's not bad enough to warrant treatment. But for me it is bad enough and I want to investigate doing something about it. What advice can you give? Has anyone here tried pharmaceutical or psychological therapy for simple tics such as those I've described?
