While living in Florida for 20 years I became a fan of boric acid to prevent and control bugs in the home. With time, I also became familiar with a closely related but different product, borax. Borax is a mineral mined from the ground; it is refined into boric acid. Borax is not sold as a pesticide, as boric acid is. Yet it has lots of applications as a natural product for use in the home.
An infographic on borax caught my eye
I’m pretty generous with my expectations. I don’t assume a single natural product like borax will work wonders in all the 21 uses mentioned in this infographic. I’ll allow some leeway since its use avoids exposure to toxic products. But I am curious — does it really kill weeds the way it is described? I’ll have to check it out and let you know.
