renegade fatty acids important?

Thank you again for taking the time to help us through this maze of tests and treatments.
Our doctor feels that one of the big problems with neurological issues is a problem with membranes. He said that based on John Foster's "The Detox Book", membranes get messed up and form renegade fatty acids. So instead of being nice and fluid and allowing things to move and communicate, they get stiff and difficult to function. Since all neruons are lined with membranes, in his opinion it is important to check if these renegade fatty acids are present in the body. Supposedly there is only one lab who can test for this, which is Johns Hopkins at a cost of approx. $500. If the test reveals these renegade fatty acids, then there is a whole protocol to treat it involving high doses of lethicin (sp?) along with a special diet. They have seen a lot of improvement in neurologic symptoms after clearing out this problem; however I don't know how much it has been researched in the autistic population. With all the myriad of tests and related expenses there are in figuring out our children's biological dysfunctions, is this one that you would recommend? How high would you put it on the list of tests to do?
Thank you again for all your time and your help in these matters!

has the best Fatty Acid test - it tests all 67 fatty acids in the brain. She has done extensive research with
autistic children and successes from her nutrionally based suggestions. She is associated with Johns
The results not only give you the fatty acid terrain in the brain, but it then maps each fatty acid to all
the systems of the body, shows you where you are too low, too high, etc., and gives you a nutrition
plan as well as supplement plan to repair the brain. This is one test I always refer to as it really gives
you a good foundation for feeding the brain.
They also now have a program call "Detoxx Box" which is their program to remove metals and other
things from the body. Not sure how this would work for kids, but the program they have is the nutrition
based way to remove these metals and toxins.
Hope this helps !
